I've released a port of my Worm Warrior game to the PSP:
WormPSP.png

It will run on a PSP with either official or custom firmware, as it was patched with PSPcrypt.

it is always nice to see new homebrew for the psp.

without going to far off topic, i'm also looking forward to some new stuff for the gemei a330. it seems EVERYONE forgot about the system when the dingux port died off. http://rastersoft.net/?p=191

It should be here tomorrow. I'm excited to dig into it and hopefully get something working by this weekend.

From what I've seen, this thing compares favorably to the new GCW Zero.

i just put Worm Warrior on my psp and it crashed the system, turning it off. i have a psp 3000 running 6.60 pro-c. when i click on the eboot, the msd activity light blinks a few times, then i see a black screen. about 6 seconds later the psp shut off.

can anyone confirm this?

Interesting... I'm using a PSP 1001 with 6.60 PRO-C.

Do you see the same problem when you boot to the official firmware?

I uploaded another version to the same location. If the existing EBOOT.PBP file doesn't work, there is an unsigned version in the Alt folder.

the problem is the category lite plugin.

i have all homebrew inside G:\PSP\GAME\CAT_Homebrew. when your file is in there it crashes. if i removed the category lite line from vsh.txt and then place your project outside the folder, it works. so now i know the issue is with the file placement or the plugin. would it be possible to incorporate support for the category lite plugin?

the alt version still does not work with the category lite plugin. this is the first homebrew i've come across that did not work within the plugin folders. i've read about some issues but have not experienced them myself, until now.

That's the one I can think of off the top of my head that doesn't like being in a folder. Can't remember the others.

I hardcoded the path for the loaded files. I need to get the current directory, and load files based on that path.

Thanks for testing it out. I will add this in tonight. It looks like I can use sceIoGetThreadCwd to get the current working directory, and eliminate the problem you're seeing.

The latest version, downloadable from the same place, should work with the category lite plugin. I tested it with a different folder name, and it had no problems. The archive no longer contains the unencrypted version; since that doesn't appear to be causing any issues.

Thanks again, Another World, for your investigative help.

There's not some "./" equivalent?

Yep, as long as you're not running under PSPLink, which I didn't realize was the problem until I logged the current working directory ('host:'). I was bitten by the PSPLink 'environment' multiple times throughout this port.

I had initially tried relative paths; but file loading was failing and I switched to a hard coded path. I know better now.

i'm glad i could help. after i got my psp i noticed that many of the homebrew and emulation projects were discontinued with a few show stopping bugs. i wish i had been around then to report about them!

your game is really fun, and super challenging. my hit count is really low. lol. are there any weapon upgrades the further you get into it?

Any chance of an unsigned/unencrypted version for those of us who use VHBL on Vita? We can't run signed stuff on the Vita.

No, it was intended to be an updated version of Worm Whomper:
