Hacking new psp found system 5.50 gen-d2

So I just picked up this PSP used and was expecting to hack it but found a 4gb stick preloaded with some games! Just curious since as the title of the post states I'm running 5.50 gen-d2 should I upgrade to what seems to be the most reliable at 6.20? I'm mainly asking to make sure that I won't cause more harm trying to use a stock firmware to upgrade a custom firmware.

Just install the official 6.20 over your current fw then use the latest 6.20 PRO installer on it. Follow this guide & you will be fine.

Follow Rydian's guide as you won't be able to simply update. It's nice and simple....

Go to 6.20 PRO though and not an ME firmware.

ok seems simple enough I was reading those walkthrus i just wanted to be safe i guess, I've never modded a PSP before and wanted to be safe. Is there anything super important to upgrade for? Everything seems to be working ok on this FW and I'm tempted to leave it!

So everything worked perfectly cudos rydian! any tips on a cheap place to get memory sticks? 16 or 32

Get two 16GB microSDHC cards and an adapter like this.

Amazon's stores and newegg usually sell stuff cheaply, and (barring amazon personal resellers) you'll know you're getting something legit.
