Amagami in English for PS Vita
I should stop saying what I'm working on next in these posts, I'm not good at releasing them.

Hello!

A bit back I noticed the tools Nishishi Translations made and used were released to the public. One thing led to another and now here we are! This was a very fun project to work on compared to other ones I've done as it was possible to alter the game a lot more for some new features.

PS2 Credits
First thing I want to mention before anything is the credits. This is a patch based off Nishishi Translations' work done for the PS2. This not only includes the translation, but also all their documentation and code changes, some of which has been ported over here with tweaks made to both. This patch would not exist without their efforts on both translating and hacking this game.

They maintain a credits list found here, which may or may not change with time. The page has been archived on the Wayback Machine in case the site goes down.

Vita Credits
I would also like to mention the people who helped with making this patch a reality through bug reporting, image editing, and more:
  • badspot — Image editing/Playtesting
  • FTIW — Hacking/Image editing
  • Palevo — Playtesting
  • Phantom — Translation help
  • vimiani — Logo Design/Image editing
  • wacker — Playtesting
If you're interested, come check out the discord server that I accidentally hijacked for this patch. It's all about vita patches and you come discuss or ask questions about the game!

v1.0: March 19th, 2025
  • Initial Release.
Updated April 26th, 2025:

These instructions were written on the assumption that you have an understanding of how to navigate your PS Vita and VitaShell and your computer's operating system.

If you do not have VitaShell installed on the PS Vita, there is a likely chance your PS Vita is not jailbroken. A guide can be found at https://vita.hacks.guide/
This patch requires the use of rePatch. If you do not have it installed, please refer to https://github.com/dots-tb/rePatch-reDux0/releases and install it as a kernel patch.

All steps are required to follow. Skipping a step or two may result in a broken game so please go over every single step when trying to patch your game

Please download and unzip the installer before following these steps.

1. Acquire and install AMAGAMI (PCSG00291) and update 1.01 on your vita. Official update 1.01 is required. No support will be provided for this step.

2. Open VitaShell (or MolecularShell) and navigate to the folder ux0:app.

3. Highlight PCSG00291 by hitting the square button, then hitting the triangle button and click "Open Decrypted"

For USB transfer:
4. Copy and paste both the graph folder and SCENARIO.CPK into any folder on the vita by using square to mark the files then triangle to copy/paste.

For FTP transfer:
4. Press SELECT to open the FTP server and copy and paste both the graph folder and SCENARIO.CPK into the !!input folder found within the patcher you downloaded from the link above.

For both:
5. Now back on the vita, head outside the folder you pasted your files into. And head to the ux0 folder, then "patch".

6. Repeat step 3, if you do not see a PCSG00291, that means you have not installed the 1.01 patch mentioned in step 1.

For USB transfer:
7. Copy and paste AMAGAMI.IMG into the folder you copied both the graph folder and SCENARIO.CPK into.

For FTP transfer:
7. Press SELECT to open the FTP server and copy and paste AMAGAMI.IMG into the !!input folder found in the patcher.

For USB transfer:
8. Connect your vita to your computer via USB.
9. Navigate your vita on your computer to the folder containing all three files you copied.
10. Move the graph folder, AMAGAMI.IMG, and SCENARIO.CPK into the !!input folder found in the patcher folder.

For both:
11. Run either windows.bat or linux.sh found inside the patcher depending on your operating system.
*If you see no invalid input in the console, that means the operation was successful.

12. Drag the rePatch folder found within the patcher folder into your vita's ux0 folder.

13. Boot up the game on your vita, if you see the initial startup images in English then you have successfully patched the game!
Updated April 26th, 2025:

Please follow all steps carefully, do not skip parts of a step randomly.

Please download and unzip the installer before following these steps.

1. Acquire and install AMAGAMI (PCSG00291) and update 1.01 onto Vita3K. It is required you have 1.01 installed. No technical support will be provided for this step of the patch.

2. Right click on the icon of the game inside the emulator, select "Open Folder" then "Application".

3. Copy and paste "graph", "AMAGAMI.IMG" and "SCENARIO.CPK" found inside the folder opened on Step 2 into the !!input folder found within the patcher.

4. Run either windows.bat or linux.sh found inside the patcher depending on your operating system.
If you see no invalid input in the console once it's finished, that means the operation was successful.

5. Head into the folder "repatch", then "PCSG00291" found in the patcher then copy and paste everything inside that folder into the previously opened folder from Step 2.

6. Boot up the game on Vita3K, if you see the initial startup images in English then you have successfully patched the game!

Modified Items
  • Game Scripts
  • Graphics
  • Menus
  • Name Changing
  • Touch Controls
Trophies have not been modified.

Known Issues
  • Mahjong is not translated (If you're willing to translate this behemoth of a script, feel free to reach out).
  • Some lines may be untranslated or formatted weird.

Changes
Here are most of the changes/fixes from the PS2/PSP patch.
*Anything not listed means it's a direct port from Nishishi's work (such as automatic line breaks, name changing, translation, etc.)

  • Patch is now all in one (benefits from newer hardware).
  • Translated/edited/fixed some lines throughout the game.
  • Fixed line breaks when the player's name was in it.
  • Added voice line in text form when changing player's name.
  • Fixed name changing (PSP).
  • Fixed names being three characters long (PSP).
  • Reduced character spacing in event names at the top of the grid.
  • Fixed log window from random crashing and now has variable width font.
  • Fixed snowflake in text window going off screen if line was too long.
  • Fixed calendar day position (PSP).
  • Changed title sequence when booting up.
  • Fixed ï not displaying.
  • Added space between character names when the relationship status changed.
  • Fixed omake softlock on background change (PS2 Ebikore).
  • Fixed credits screen only showing 3 names (PS2 Ebikore).
  • Fixed curtain call scene softlock (PS2 Ebikore).
  • Fixed lines being out of place in certain scenes.
  • Translated alternate epilogue event.
  • Fixed a softlock with Nanasaki's friendship route (PS2).

Touch Controls
The original game did not implement touch controls in any section that wasn't exclusive to the vita. Meaning only the gallery got touch controls implemented.

This English patch offers touch controls to navigate the game in the following ways:
  • Tapping anywhere to finish text streaming/advance text.
  • Tapping on the title screen to open the game.
  • Swiping up and down to show/hide the log.
  • Tapping on conversation buttons inside conversation mode.

If you do not wish for these new controls to work, you have the option to disable them with a new setting inside the menu as shown below:
Untitled.png

Adding touch controls to other aspects of the game would be quite strenuous. Patchworking the game to take controller heavy menus and make them touch friendly is possible, but not easy in the slightest (adding the above mentioned took quite some time). Still, if you have suggestions for places where touch controls would almost be a necessity, don't hesitate to let me know.

Most of the information in this post can also be found within the last few pages of the manual.

That's all from me, hope you enjoy the game.

See you around!

I need help with Step 7.
From the Vita, I copy and posted the AMAGAMI.IMG into the folder you ask but once I hit select to copy out of the Vita folder into the input folder, the AMAGAMI.IMG file is not there.
I've restarted the step multiple times, and I get the same issue. I do have version 1.01 of the game.

EDIT: ok I figured it out.
At step 7, I realized to open the PCSG00291 folder for AMAGAMI.IMG, I had to do the same "Open Decrypted" step from earlier. I didn't know that.

I did that and everything worked fine.

I wanna say my thanks and appreciation for this. I've been a big fan of this series since way back when. I was so happy the previous translation was done on PS2/PSP but now we have the best version complete. Thank you again.

Is there are any place to report bug and give suggestion or here is fine?
Was it just me or reusing old save file on vita3k still had some part not translated?

Hey there! Looks like you didn't use the AMAGAMI.IMG from 1.01, just 1.00. Double check and make sure you copy AMAGAMI.IMG from ux0/patch and not ux0/app before patching :)

How do I install it on Vita3K Emulator? I don`t own PS Vita
Just Move the graph folder, AMAGAMI.IMG, and SCENARIO.CPK from your \Vita3K\HDD\ux0\app\PCSG00291 folder (or Right Click the game in Vita3k, click the Open Folder and Application option) into the !!input folder in the patch directory, then run the Windows.bat or Linux.sh depending on your system. After patching is finished, navigate to repatch folder and you will find the patched PCSG00291, move that folder back into your VIta3K's games installation directory where the game's directory is located, replace if prompted and the game is patched!

BE SURE TO UPDATE THE GAME FIRST TO 1.01 OTHERWISE IT WOULDN'T WORK SINCE THE PATCH IS BASED ON 1.01 VERSION.

Wow great patch, it looks clean af. Alot of events from Kaoru are now translated :V i can finally read her endings. There are still some lines got untranslated (mainly the events to deep ur trust for Risa's lies) but other than that, yea this is way better than ps2 and psp version. TKS ALOT FOR THE PATCH

Is there a way to update Amagami to 1.01 without the need for a PS Vita, I have the 1.00 files from NPS Browser and I found this update package but I can't find any documentation as to apply said package, it is a .pkg file.

Hey there! It says INVALID_INPUT, meaning you may not have followed the step involving decrypting your files. Only reason that would happen is if you have all 3 files in, but just copied them directly.

Hey! I did open decrypted and then copied them to a different folder. Is there a step im missing?

Hey, I followed each of these steps correctly (multiple times over) and while I managed to patch the scenario and graph files perfectly fine, AMAGAMI.IMG is giving me the XD3_iNVALID_INPUT error. It's been updated to 1.01, and I made sure to decrypt the folder before copying it. Not really sure what I'm doing incorrectly at this point.

Edit: Issue resolved, no longer need help here

How did you fix it?

i watched the anime a long time ago, and a twitter post just reminded me of this game. i want to try playing it but what's the better way ps2 emu or ps vita emu with this patch. i rarely use emulator and stuff haha

Thanks! :D This was one of my first animes so I've always wanted to play the VN someday to see what I missed. I was even looking at the ps2 patch earlier today and dreading having to deal with multiple roms, and the patch's other eccentricities. A few hours later I happened to come across a Reddit post about this patch.

I ended up digging up the Vita I hadn't touched in years and tried the patch. For some reason, I kept having issues with the patch not applying correctly (like text being large and not fitting in the text box, as well as random text not being translated) when attempting to follow the steps via FTP, but I got it on the first try through USB. Can confirm it works on my Vita and through the Vita3K emulator.

so i tried setting it up and and patched the game. All is well but when i was entering my name the game froze and i got this error.

Edit: NVM it's fine now
