I'll request that the next version of Powersaves 3DS should be offline due to the fatal bricking errors for Pokemon X & Y after the hacking it seems hey got too overprotected by the hacking causing the servers too screw up the data. Also for those who have bricked copies of Pokemon X & Y which windows version did you use? Also what connection of internet are you using Wi-Fi or Landline? I feel it's Datel's responsibility to fix this error and have powersaves & codes to fix these bricks.

Also if you want to email Datel about supporting offline codes and backup and restore data for the next version keep sending https://powersaves3ds.maximummemory.com/support/ voice your opinion to make this happen so no one will have to be a victim of bricking.

I was on windows 8 when both mine got bricked & wifi. I messaged them using the link you posted last week but I have yet to hear a response. I also emailed [email protected] & [email protected] today when my y got bricked and now I'm just waiting to see if I get a response

It would be safer to use a landline to do Powersaves 3DS than Wi-Fi since anything can interrupt the signal causing an error. I would use a landline for Powersaves 3DS I do use a landline. As for Windows 8 maybe you should use Windows Vista or Windows XP due to Windows 7 & 8 due to their security being overprotective. I emailed them my concerns hopefully they can work this out I honestly don't like seeing bricked victims I do feel sympathy for those who got bricked and put alot of time into Pokemon X & Y. Let's see if they can fix these bricks for everyone who got bricked still voice your concerns hopefully in time they will help us out. It did take them time to hack up codes for Mario Kart 7 Older Copies & The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D Newer Copies. I can suggest them making a program 3DS Brick Remover Program to remove bricks and wipe out the data.

They cannot make it offline because not everyone has a 3DS that can execute arbitrary code.
I think multiple people have explained this concept a million times on this thread as well as on the old one.

If that is the case just make it so you don't have to use your cartridge to add codes just use the backed up save data to apply codes to the save since they're editing the save through servers so they won't be any risks.

I don't see how is that useful.
Do you want to bring your latest save on your USB drive with you everywhere to apply codes without looking at what they do after you apply each code?
That's how bricks happen...

My cart got bricked for absolutely no reason, well when I was applying a code it said 'Insert your game cartridge' which happened a lot so I still thought it was alright but then it wouldn't apply any saves, it would say it is successful but it never came up and it wasn't saving or anything, and it froze when I tried to delete my save data so it got bricked for no reason but I can simply not stop the cartridge not being recognised in the middle of applying a save without getting a spring put inside my 3DS so it doesn't get damaged when I put it in and out (because it has no spring) but it's already damaged anyway and the total I've spent on my DS and fixing it and Powersaves and pokemon is over £100 :!:

So should anyone come-up with a list of precautions to help to try and prevent bricking? or are we not 100% sure what's causing this...

We know why it is caused (see my post on the previous page with the link to the guy who found out), but there is no absolute way to avoid it. Suggested means would be to make sure that you have a functional USB cable and using it in a USB port that is actually on your computer and not through some peripheral (like a keyboard for instance [my Mac has two of them there]). There was a time early on where one edit seemed to be associated with a very high incidence of the save being rewritten outside of it's appropriate area. This triggered a massive removal of content. The major offending code (the Wal-Mart Garchomp) has since been added back and seems to function normally. That also doesn't mean that it can't happen again. Everything has been relatively quiet on that front until recently. It is possible that something has happened again on Datel's side that is incorrectly telling the program where to write the save.

The only way to completely avoid it is to not use Powersaves at all. I don't see most people going for that option, but that is the only way to prevent it.

Well i wont use my powersaves until they fixed the cartridge breaking/error. I dont want my second cartridge broken

Well you are likely never to use it again. Anytime that you use a device like this, you are using a cart in a way that they were not designed to be used. There will always be an inherent risk involved.

Wow, well I can see what MGS1980 is saying about writing the data to a wrong spot. But I think Datel should try drasticlly to improve the stability of this this product.
