Thanks, I am still adding more areas to the game. For instance, the Contra level now has 4 areas from the original game. Also adding more Super Metroid, Metroid Zero Mission levels.

Gonna post some more screenshots of some of the new levels in the next couple days. I have been working a lot lately. After that, all of my free time has gone into the game.

If there is anyone else interested in beta testing, send me a PM.

I still have a couple more levels I want to build. A lot of levels have been changed and improved.

I want to ask GBATempers a couple things.

1. I was going to finish the game around this time, but decided to add a bunch of new levels. Do you guys thin I should release one more beta?

2. I am thinking about adding a story into the game. What do you think about this?

Keep it original bro!

And yes, release beta please.

Also, im up for beta testing!

Gah! I keep waiting patiently for the Alpha to finally hit, because I have no interest in "Testing" the game, and then right when it's about to, every time you come up with a whole bunch of new stuff to test!! DAMN YOU AND YOUR UNENDING CREATIVITY!!

Keep up the good work.

1. Depends on how far you are from finishing the game. If you are near completion then a new beta isn't necessary.

2. I wouldn't add a story to the game. What you could do is maybe putting in the original Metroid opening text ("Emergency order, defeat the Metroid of...") or the one from Zero Mission. I think this would work well.

Here are a couple more screenshots as promised. I have been working crazy hours at work lately, but took the week off starting today. I should be able to get a lot done in the next few days now.

Beta testers....I'll have another rev for you to test soon. A lot of new areas and levels. They have been in pieces over the last few weeks due to lack of time + testing on my part.

These two pics are just a couple of the MANY new levels added to the game. I was hoping to have this thing finished by this point, but I decided to fill every last level I can in the hack. And, quality is and has been a major factor as well.

I have to admit I wasn't interested in this at first, but now I think it looks awesome. Keep it up!

How the heck is it that I'm just discovering this thread now?

I just tried your latest beta. Wow! This is one Mario game I can actually get into! Sweet! It will be like the 2D Metroid (with a twist) we never got on the DS. Best ROM hack I've seen on the DS thus far! Kudos are over 9000 my friend!

What would be icing on the cake is if you could edit the title screen to replace the word "Mario" with "Metroid" so it would really look official.

I'm going to refrain from playing this until you are finished so I can enjoy the full hack. And enjoy it I will! I'm actually more excited for this than any of the "official" games that are coming. A permanent spot on my flashcart is already reserved for this hack.

I have built a lot of levels in the last 3 days. There are only a couple left to build and they are not going to be as tough as the ones I just finished.

This hack should probably be called New Nintendo Bros., but I kept the Metroid theme so that it has an ongoing theme throughout the game. It has all the levels and rooms from the original Metroid. Levels from Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, the first 2 Zeldas, most levels from Castlevania, Contra, as well as others.

I am still putting lots of hours everyday into it. It will be done soon. Within the next week I should have a full beta version ready for the beta testers. From there just final cleanups, and add ons.

It's nice too see this hack going the way it is. Also, I'm sorry luckwii if I haven't said much (or more rather anything.) in regards to the betas. It's more that I've been lazy.

I'll pm you with what I know tomorrow.

EDIT: I was also going to download the last revison you sent me but it seems I can't.

There will be another in the next couple days. maybe even tomorrow. A lot has changed since the last rev I sent you.

Ah alright.

Also, again, sorry for the lazyness.

Also is there anyway you can send resend the last one you gave? Can't seem to download it.

I think I deleted that one. I have kept the publicly released betas, but the tester versions get deleted after everyone downloads them.

Basically, I have to re-arrange some entrances and the next tester beta will be ready. I'll have it ready by the end of the weekend for sure.

Ah, I see.

Well then I'll just wait for the next one, and I'll be sure to not to be lazy.

Sent today's revision out to the beta testers. Check your in boxes.

Anyone else interested in testing, send me a PM. I need people willing to test the game, and write back with what needs to be changed and what level the suggestions are in.

I really wish the beta testers would talk more about this project here, as well as sending luckwii their PM's. I realize I'm very late to this thread, but after having recently finding out about it, I want to hear more about it.

I don't know why none of the beta's ever got front-paged (unless it did and I missed it, I searched and didn't see anything) seems like it would have brought a LOT more attention to this project if it would have gotten some front-page action for each beta update.

Once the final release hits, it BETTER get some front-page space! I've seen much less impressive stuff get front-page, so why not this project?

I give a lot of feedback to luckwii through PM because that's how he wants it. He doesn't want the surprises to be spoiled

If it's ok with him I can post my feedback here

I sent out a revision to the beta testers. It was pretty buggy as I have been focusing on building levels more than anything else. But, more than anything, it was to catch them up on how the game is overall. There were a lot of new levels in it that they had not seen.

Been busy at work this week, so I have only tested and fixed bugs. I am trying to get a more stable beta release so we can get a final test version together. There are levels I need to add enemies in still, and levels that I want to add coins, bricks, and more things to do.

There is virtually no Mario graphics left in the game except the game maps, and the Mario characters. There are no Mario levels at all. No Mario powerups either.

It may be tough for the beta testers to talk to much or to know what to talk about since most of the game details are spoilers. Each level is either a new game, or has something new to it.

I have been able to add a feature that New Super Mario Bros. does not have.

Nice, can't wait to try it.
