In Japan Square Enix started beta test for Dragon Quest X.

Dragon Quest X is MMO and loads game data from Wii USB memory. (USB HDD isn't supported...)
Dragon Quest X beta has an update and IOS59 rev6689 was added.
Does someone know about IOS59?

IOS59 has a version of 6689, as told by the filename. No other IOS has this.

What's your point?
As @Luigi2011SM64 said, I was saying that IOS59 has a different version than the rest. Normally it is common for IOS's to have the same version number as others.
if this was the case then every ios in this post, would be the same version. an they are not. you have v5888,v6174,an the newer ios59 v6689.. i think you are looking at the wrong spot for your comment.(64)..

Only when they are new versions released at the same time. Had IOS62 (or any new IOS) been added as well, it probably would have been v6689.

ninty is finally gonna let us use an external hdd....well it's too fucking late now isn't it the wii is almost dead!! :creep:

Its also for the Wii U.
And the Wii U is backwards compatible with the Wii.
So its really not too late =P

I'll make an assumption and say that they added cryptology in the IOS to operate with encrypted partition (the partition #1 on the disc could format the HDD in a specific Wii format, that's why it would not be compatible with regular HDD format).
Well, the wii should already use that with the Wii specific keys, but maybe they added a different one as the Wii key is already known.

That's just suppositions, but I guess they will not use a unencrypted/unsigned external device.
It might create a console/key specific external storage.
