updated first post with green ds.
thanks swip saw this on dealextreme when it was put on just forgot to update lol

i should be getting my zelda case in the next few days i will let you know how good it is

These are the best cases you are going to find with such a large selection. I have bought and used the zelda case, and I am amazed at how close it is to the real thing. The case fit perfectly and looks great. The pieces are so close to the real thing that I can mix my gold case with my existing black one to make it unique. I highly recommend getting one of these over a Shock! case. I got the chrome shock case and I hated it so much that I ordered my zelda case the same night that I put the chrome case on my ds. Trust me, the shock cases have poor build quality, look shotty, and don't even come with all of the parts one would expect (rubber screw covers, color matching buttons, screws/shoulder button parts, and screen frames).

I really like my zelda case, but that green case is just too awesome to not have. I hope that it is at least a little brighter than it is in the picture though.

My only problem with these cases is the screw holes on the pieces aren't quite large enough to fit the screws into. To get around this, I drilled my smallest jeweler's screwdriver into the hole to make room for the screws. Please be aware that this must be done carefully or the piece may break.

Looked at some pics. I saw an Instruction sheet. Hopefully it tells you what to do instead of just naming off parts. Taking Apart and Putting it back together is the only thing from keeping me from getting one of these. If I had a full step by step guide with LOTSA pics, I'd feel safe. But a lot of guides around like the one I see on here alot, only has the bottom shell. Is it really easy as it looks? I hear alot of people screwing up their power button and the hinges.

Here is a good video tutorial for disassembling the DS: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRzTgfo2PsM

BTW: How is the scratch resistance of the touchscreen panel in this cases?

At first I was really unsure about taking apart my ds, but with a video tutorial (youtube), it was pretty easy. Now, I have taken my ds apart over ten times (not because I had too, just because I think it is a fun thing to do

). Once you take it apart once, it becomes very easy for you to do it again. The first time I took it apart took me around eight hours to complete. Now I can completely disassemble and reassemble my ds in around two to three hours.

For those of you willing to try it, I have some advice. Be very careful with the ribbon cable in the hinge. It has to be put back near perfect for your ds to power back on when you're done.

Do NOT use an exacter knife or any other sharp, metal object to remove ANY of the rubber screw hole covers. I ended up ruining some of mine doing this. I would advise using a guitar pick (a thin gauge one is your best bet. You can most likely pick one up at your local music store for less than fifty cents)

Be careful when removing the screws. Some of the screws are made of a fairly soft metal. It does not take very much force to strip the screw. Twist the screws slowly and apply enough pressure to keep the screwdriver from popping out of the screw.

Keep track of all of the small parts you take out. I keep them all in a micro sd card case when I take apart my ds. That way, if I bump the table and it falls off, all of the tiny pieces will still be there.

Finally, make sure you have enough time to complete the job. It is not good for the ds's internal hardware to stay out of the case for too long. If you can't get the job done in one sitting, place all of the internal hardware into an anti-static bag and put the bag in safe place.

I hope my advice will help those of you that are willing to try to make you ds look the way you always wanted it too. Please be careful. I don't want a bunch of people making the stupid mistakes that I did.

I already did that, some time ago..but your advices are great..Great post, if I didn't knew that, it would help me a lot the first time I decided to replace and mod my case!!

Dragon case price drop & Zelda case price drop see first post

well ive got my zelda case and its great quality really pleased with it

only took me about 20mins to swap my ds over into it, the only problem i had was the screw holes was not drilled to great.

also i paid $32.92 for my zelda case which is now dropped to $19.02 and so i message DX and they gave me $14 store credit

They look LUSH, is there anyway to design your own one?

At the moment I am hassling my mum (I'm only 13) to buy me the camouflage full replacement kit as i broke my original black case.
Has anyone bought it and would like to give me some advice about installing or whether or not to buy it?

Too bad there's no DSphat cases!!

I'd love to get some of these if they made them in phat!

they have some, they come in electric blue, silver, pink, white, red, and black.

Nice thread, i was lookin at some custom cases too and was thinking about it - taking apart the DS is no problem to me anymore, did it about twenty five times already (when replacing my touch screen, and replaced few buttons from black ones to white). and price is low as well. Only thing is i yet havent removed any parts in top screen - they are still glued intact.

One thing i wonder is why someone told that replacing casing needs you to solder something - if you just can take the antenna in right way it would not need ANY soldering... >,>

its because alot of people cut the antenna cable as there too stupid to pull it under the slot1 housing. and alot of people say you cant put it back through under but ive managed to do it loads of times lol and

Does anyone have any pictures of the clear shells actually on a DS? I'm tempted...

Nevermind, just found them on DX

Yeah I'm also considering on getting DSphat cases from DX, just dunno if they have all the pieces, or if they are reliable to purchase from there (by the fluctuating reviews there

can't determine)
