Has there been any word on if there will be, or won't be, a new DS Castlevania released this year? I know there is one coming out for the PSP, but have they skipped over the DS this year and opted for PSP?

No news whatsoever. Nintendo's handhelds are the ones that get brand new 2D titles wheras Sony's consoles get remakes or ports of 2D titles. I prefer getting the new games.

You'll have to remember that the last game only came out in the Japan in November last year, I think the previous one before was out August 2005. I think we'll get a new game next year.

Well, Konami has kind of been releasing these last bunch of Castlevanias around a year apart...the GBA ones, and then the DS ones at least as far as I know. Well, I hope we receive an announcement soon.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a new CV. all they need to do is design levels since they reuse the enemy sprites in every single game.

I wonder what direction they'll go with this time?

I liked the soul system from the Dawn series but, it got really difficult to collect them last game.

I liked the way PoR played but, I'm not sure if I want or really need a game structured the same way again.

I'd love a game where I can swing from things with the whip again.

I think the next DS Castlevania will be centered around Julius and the 1999 Demon Wars or whatever it was called. I dunno if this is confirmed or if it is just rumors, though.

Considering how bad that last one was I hope the honestly take the time to do a new one and mix things up a bit to make it a truly great experience. That whole bit with the portraits, being more than the usual 'fuzzy' on how to advance, and then those horrid switch off sequences like the wannabe tron cycles hallway need to go. Aria's sequel on the DS a couple years ago was damn fantastic right down the nearly full second title hiding under the hood which was like a pseudo-sequel to CV3 on the NES.

I think 2 Castlevania games is already good enough for the DS..
I would prefer to see a Metal Gear or a new Konami franchise for the DS..

Well, we're already getting Contra 4..

i still gotta beat the first 1!!

i just beat the puppet douche guy...i think the second one was hard... and i only played for like 15 minutes!

... or to some bos... close to the beggining tho.

may try the GBA ones though!

I just began playing Dawn of Sorrow when I lost my save... I haven't tried it again.

I'll wait for my brother to buy a flashcart so we can play portrait of ruins in coop (I heard that was possible...).

And another Castlevania is always welcome

I hope the problems of Portrait of Ruins on flashcarts aren't in the new one though. Same for the new Tony Hawk game...

It's a rather hard game,

and parts are just frustrating collecting stuff...waste of time...no skill in that.

anyway - i heard today they are remaking the GBA AOR Castlevania game for the DS.
