New Computer, packed Vista.

So yeah, I fessed up the moneys I had and bought myself a newer computer. Now it came preinstalled with Vista, which sucks. I tend to try to make the most out of Vista until I get fed up to the point I want to kill it.

So the bulk of this is, what should I install, edit, config, etc.

Its bad enough that XP is better; and bad enough thats its worth the 40 minutes to format the drive and install XP over it.

Unless it is a laptop, in which case it will be a lot harder than formating/installing.

What are your Vista problems?
Tips:
Turn off UAC
Turn off indexing
Turn off Aero

That should make it better.

It really isn't that bad. I haven't had a negative experience, and I've had it since launch. Give it a try, and if you don't like it, go to XP

Return the pc, buy a mac, or just install hackintosh. Dealing with Windows is physically painful.

Beats me. Vista sucks, XP sucks, I'm posting the next logical option.

You can't censor ideas you don't like, mods. It's just not right.

It's not spam. I hate Vista, my computer doesn't have xp drivers. Options: Linux (lol), stick with Vista, buy a Mac. I posted my thoughts, it IS censorship, and I make that call, not some random Gbatemp writer.

I've done it before, but I didn't have a nice enough grahics card, so i switched back.
BUT!
It was OS X.
And OS X > Vista.
At least in my opinion.

What graphics card did you have? NVinject can fix nearly every nvidia problem.
