Motherboards between TN and IPS models can be swapped save for addressing the
HWCAL0.dat and
HWCAL1.dat screen calibration issue later.
No. Failure stems from a bad swap job because the person who did it had no business disassembling their system in the first.
People break off connectors and tear flex cables all the time because some of those connectors are misleading in that they don't have flipping locks that open, and the cables aren't handled with enough care using tweezers where the person with big boned fingers tug or jam them in too hard.
Valid reasons to disassemble and swap motherboards.
- Replace the failed motherboard after exhausting software solutions trying to fix a 2DS/3DS that doesn't run correctly in HOME Menu, playing games, etc.
- A/B parts testing. Temporary swap the boards between two of the same models. Figure out if one has a broken accessory part (ie, camera, lcd) that's not obvious.
@WDeranged should leave them alone. It would be an awful scenario if he ended up destroying or ruining the perfectly fine n3DSXL and losing all his data on his main n3DSXL.
As a rule a thumb until the person has proven [him/her]self otherwise, assume [his/her] screwdriver skills is only good enough to replace a dead battery.
