    HI everyone. Recently, i have bricked my 3DS XL. So I decided to do my own temporary NAND mod. I used hotglue instead of solder.

    The problem is that when i power on my 3DS, and when i get the bootrom blue screen, when i plug it into the computer, this is what I see:[IMG]
    The drive for it is greyed out, and the drive letter does not appear in Win32DiskImager.

    Can someone help me out please?

    Thanks!

    likelyhood of getting a proper connection with " hotglue instead of solder".....probably around 1%

    ....out of curiosity, do you have a picture of this mod?

    gamesquest1 And my pins are

    (Skip 1 & 2)

    3 = CMD

    Skip 4

    5 = CLK

    6 = GND

    7 = DAT0

    Are these correct?

    get a soldering iron and solder it, as i said the chances of being able to use hotglue is pretty unlikely, and without seeing pictures its pretty much impossible to say what exactly you have done

    i highly suggest you either invest in soldering equipment and do it properly, or send it off to someone like hundshamer to get it done properly as by the sounds of it i don't think you would be ready to take up soldering yourself

    Not really. Hot glue is not going to make a proper connection. Solder it, and be done with it.

    There's no way around getting it done properly with solder. Hot glue isn't conductive enough to make a proper connection in any situation.

    I know its not conductive. Im holding down the wires to the correct points and place hot glue ontop of them it.

    Im 99% sure that the connections are correct, as i get the bootrom menu.

    That just means some of the pins are connected. I'm 100% sure your issue is with the contact. I've used hot glue to make connections in the past and even under optimal conditions (wrapping two wires tightly together) it works poorly and can loose connections randomly. Making contact between a wire and a tiny solder pad is very far from optimal conditions and it would be nigh impossible to make proper contact that way. And trust me relying on something that can lose contact at any time is bad when you are relying on the NAND backup being whole and without any corruption.
