Ok this is the situation, my card which is a: 3DS R4 Gold Pro stopped working.
To make myself clear, i was playing a game in which i had to save, then suddenly the game says "Couldnt save, data is corrupted, deleting save file", well i was like wtf but alright its just a simple savefile.

Thing is I restarted the card then all the menu of the card was black. I immediately quit the menu and went to the 3DS menu, hoping that it was only a glitch i started the r4 again and boom! "System File Not Found". OK wtf, i took the card pulled the micro sd card and put it in my PC, another surprise...It doesnt detect anything, i uploaded the pic here if you are wondering about it.

So...is there anyway to recover my files? If not then what is the next step..? If you need more info then just ask i will answer a soon as i can.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

just format your sd card and then put the kernel files on your sd card again. If your r4i gold pro is this one: http://www.dsflashcart.com/r4igold-pro-3ds-card-for-3ds-xl-3ds-dsi-ds-lite-p-274.html then just use the latest kernel from the official site, here is the guide to use it http://www.dsflashcart.com/blog/how-to-use-r4i-gold-pro-2013-flashcart-on-ds-dsi-3ds/

So...there's no way to recover my files on the card huh...? If not then well, yea i will have to format it, and yes its the same card you linked. thanks very much for the reply. Although if someone can still tell me if i can recover at least some file i would appreciate it. Thanks again.

You can always try doing a deep scan with Recuva to see if you can recover anything. It may find things, but don't get your hopes up until you test that it actually saved usable files.

There are other recovery programs out there, I don't have experience with any of them aside from Recuva, but I think Rydian has. Maybe he can weigh in if he knows of something better.

Edit - if Windows isn't detecting a filesystem on the card Recuva might not work then. You could try a "Quick Format" to FAT32, which should just create a new partition on it and then you could scan for the old data, but you may lose even more.

Another option that I just remembered would be TestDisk. I had great success recovering ~800GB of data from a 1TB drive that had the partition table corrupted using this program, and it can rebuild the old partition table if it finds data on the drive.

Anything i do might get my files erased maybe? btw Thanks a lot for the info on this program :), my files are there i just need to pull them out somehow. Thanks in advance.

Take a look at this - http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk_Step_By_Step

That dialogue, "Cluster 2, Directory / found?" is, if I am not mistaken, prompting you if that was the root directory of the card. Seeing as your kernel files are not there, which they would be if it was the root, you're going to want to answer "N" and hit enter.

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
Well, from what I've heard from my parents, he had a seizure last night, perhaps an epileptic episode, fucking died, had a near death experience, my dad called the paramedics, they showed up, took him to the hospital, and he woke up covered in tubes, and started complaining.
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
He couldn't eat until after his MRI, when he had a bomb pop.

What matters now is that he's doing alright.
