i apologize in advance but im new to using the homebrew on 3ds method. I use to use the cyber gadget save editor for oras but it cant be used for sun/moon yet. i actually havent the slightest idea on what all is needed to use the pkhex method on my 3ds, its the newest 3dsxl. Im not exactly sure where to find the firmware needed for my 3ds. can anyone help me out?

sweet thanks ill give these a read and see if i can find what im looking for. im know how to use pkhex its just the firmware im lost on.
System firmware? That's on the settings app, bottom right of top screen.
Plus, if you don't intend to play oras anymore, you can set it up with basehaxx, then dump the save of sun/moon for use in pkhex. Though I reccomend pksm though, let's you edit Pokémon right on your 3ds and as a bonus comes with 150 boxes that pokemon can be stored on, so it also doubles as a free+offline pokebank which is much simpler IMO
