I have the same problem with that black screen... it is shown in games such as mario maker, smash, moon/sun, rubik cube (yeh don't judge me)... and I can't find a solution...

I have an o3ds with lastest luma version, lastest al9h version (I think), no gateway, I have downgraded my console from 11.0.0 to 9.2 to install everything, I have the fbi also installed, I have tryied the format from 3ds options... I don't know what more to do.. I just wanna throw my o3ds from a high place...:hateit:

Help me pls

Edit: Games like Inazuma Eleven Chrono stone, Pokémon Omega Ruby and Super Mario 3d land do work...

After many trials & errors, I have finally figured out how to fix the following: 1) Pokemon Sun & Moon do not load and stuck at the black screen then restarts 3DS and/or 2DS. 2) If you get "an exception occurred" with "ARM11 (core 1) prefetch abort (svcBreak)" message. I have seriously done almost everything this forum suggested and none of them worked... almost BRICK my 3ds.

Solution: Once you downloaded the game and installed, launch the "freeShop" or "eShop" and search for the game that is giving you the errors mentioned above. Make sure your internet is connected. Then just close out of the freeShop or eShop app, restart your 3DS or 2DS. Relaunch the game (Pokemon Sun & Moon) and they should now work without any problem. This method has fixed my "ARM11" error games too.

I think when you are in the freeShop/eShop, it verifies that you already have the games downloaded (it says "downloaded" in the shop) and it probably downloads the game ticket in the background... unless i'm totally wrong but it has been working so far.

someone had a very similiar problem to yours and someone else suggested that they download tikshop and install all the tickets and their game started to work

hello, sorry for the noobishness, ive been looking around to no avail and i seem to be so stuck i had to make an account.....lol anyways here we go

i have a n3ds with luma 8.8 using the Plailect guide. anyways i got pokemon sun and it will not get past a black screen, ive tried everything and nothing works, what can i do?

EDIT: not sure if this is relevant but after trying every damn method i could think of, i gave up and system formatted my n3ds. reinstalled fbi, and freeshop 3.1.4, and voila! problem fixed.

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware

so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically

I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip

They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges

Xinput and 360 dongles were a driver nightmare
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I remember having to manually put in drivers and what not

    Yeah the 360 dongles sucked
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
