i need help finding an archived version of the flashme website the last archived version i could find (before domain selling) is https://web.archive.org/web/20130726151313/http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/ however it doesnt load in any browser i choose.
the last working version i could find is: https://web.archive.org/web/20070825001934/http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/

i found this while searching around: https://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/other-files/download-v8a-flashme-f19885.html but it would be nice to find a good archived version of instructions

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

also would it be possible to install this from an r4i 3ds sdhc rts or a ez flash iv?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

i also found this which is pretty neat: http://www.1emulation.com/forums/topic/20876-flashme-tutorial-newbies-guide/

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

how should i go about shorting the sl1 slot?

found this: https://web.archive.org/web/20060415000000/http://ds.gcdev.com/dsfirmware/SL1.jpg

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

and thus the flashing begins

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

and now to reboot for the moment of truth

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

found this digging around: http://darkfader.net/ds/

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

my question is is there a version of this compatible with ez flash iv?

so i decided to reverse (for now) using: https://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/other-files/download-v4-noflashme-f19906.html

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

mostly cause i had to hold select on each boot or it would boot into gba (and try to load it) which wouldnt work without a loader.bin

The author page eventually ended up http://web.archive.org/web/20140109184829/http://home.comcast.net/~olimar/flashme/ and the downloads appear to be working on it.

There is a version which will not force boot DS mode from the GBA slot. It is called noautoboot and is available above.

The EZ4 no longer has a DS mode loader in the newer models and kernels/loaders. Older ones that were pre SDHC will though. The new batch that came out before the move to microSD will also lack DS mode. If your EZ4 model is a new one of from that new batch don't try to put the old loaders on.
A pity really as it was a nice way to dump DS games.

Removing the health and safety screen, being able to boot unsigned wireless code (mostly hacked download play and download play stations), if it is an original DS possibly gaining the ability to change light levels (later models had it) and having the option to boot a GBA slot DS mode flash cart should you ever get one would seem to be reason enough to put it back on for me.

i have the original ds. i dont much care for the health and safety thing. risk of "malware" without a slot-2 card capable of running ds mode homebrew is risky and maybe later but id see these as hard to find. (i already spent $40 on this one).

on another note it seems i bought a knock-off cart (similar to r4i vs r4) they can both run find but many features are removed.

When I said later models I meant later models/revisions of the original DS.

If you wanted a DS capable slot 2 thing for firmware recovery, and the ppflash stuff on darkfader's site is not for you, then you probably can get something for that easy enough. Straight NOR cards like the fire card will probably do it here, though as it will not dump DS games (maybe do the saves if you really want) in any meaningful way I did not suggest it.

If you are worried about malware (the DS brickers) then don't. Or if you think only running commercial games will prevent it then don't as any hacker could easily hack it, or a functional equivalent, into a commercial game or ROM hack for one. They don't though.

Flashme is a replacement for nopass/passme, not to mention your DS slot cart might also have the functionality built in (not sure what goes as far as standalone software versions these days).
Neither will allow the EZ4 to sprout a DS loader and boot DS code though.
