    hey,

at my school, there is a private hotspot, that is for people who know the wep key(ie teachers, principal, etc.)

my friend manged to around the private setup through his psp without using any software to help him, so i am just wondering whether the ds can connect around a wep key.

it would be very nice to get around this [IMG]

    thanks for listening

Yeah that's right. The PSP cannot get around WEP encryption, my PSP at home requires my WEP key before it will connect.

Without the wep key the psp can "connect" but it only sends data out...nothing will come in.

Some networks have reduced security for certain devices (normally done by mac address or some handshake but occasionally by device name), I somewhat doubt a school has such a feature though, especially for a PSP (unless of course one of those with access at the time set it up for a PSP).

As you have mentioned you do not own/manager the network it probably would not be right of me to point you towards resources to take out the security, suffice it to say WEP is nigh on useless and there are countless tools and resources for doing the deed. Most of them are linux (command line) based but do not let that stop you.
