Mario kart DS is a DS game and thus needs WEP.

You WILL need to mess with the router to change the security.

To change security, you must go into router settings and change it from there.

Read your router's manual, it'll tell you how to do so. Basically you want to change it into WEP. If you don't know how then either post the make and model of your router here, or call customer service.

Yes, my DS game works on my DS using WEP on my router. If your DSi isn't connected to your router using WEP then your DS game will not connect.

Log in to your dad's router and change the encryption/security to WEP from WPA or WPA2. Also make sure your router is set to either B or mixed in the Wireless Network Mode.

Ok thanks. And even when using a Nintendo USB connector chord the router must also use WEP? Or is that a way to bypass it? If I fail at changing the security, I want to know an alternative way. I saw this download Nintendo USB connector option on Mario Kart DS's Wi-Fi settings and would like to know what it does.

The nintendo USB thing makes it's own wireless for the DS, so yes it bypasses it.

However the official nintendo connector is a bit hard to find (mainly off-brand stuff now), and it doesn't work with some firewall and antivirus software.

Nintendo stopped selling them ages ago, so you're not going to find them in official stores (for like the 3rd time).

They stopped selling them because they don't work with a lot of popular antivirus and firewall programs.

Bottom line is that you going have to buy one from ebay. These USB devices are no longer in production. And because they are no longer in production, they are rare and pricy.

Maybe Frye's would sell them (ever heard of that store before?). My dad does NOT want me messing with his router and I want to play Mario Kart DS badly so I need this USB connector. So all I do is buy it (which is nearly impossible), plug it into ANY of my house's computer drives, and then connect to it via DS Wi-Fi mode? I don't need to have downloaded anything beforehand right?

Fry's is a retail outlet and would not sell them.

They are not sold officially anymore, you'll need to buy them second-hand.

You will need to install it's drivers and do some setup stuff with it.

It might come with the drivers on a disc, it might not. Depends on if the person includes it or not.
