Compare 3DS with N64:
N64 had 3D games - 3DS will have 3D screens/gaming + a new videochip
N64 was the first nintendo console with an analog stick - 3DS will be nintendo's first handheld with an analog stick

So yeah plausible...
Uh.
Guh.
Buh.
Wha.

None of that has anything to do with whether it's powerful enough to emulate an N64 or not.

What I tried to say, new chip+analog stick = quite obvious there will be N64 games coming to 3DS. at least N64 graphics.

The DS had "N64 graphics", or at least the quality was of N64 graphics. Actually, it's got better graphics for some games (like Kingdom Hearts). Compare Super Mario 64 to its DS version and you'll see a big difference.

"Quite obviously" isn't exactly a good term. There's more than just having better looking games that makes emulation possible. The PSP has graphics around equal to a PS2 (well, maybe in between the Dreamcast and PS2) and has very slow N64 emulation. And don't say "WELL PSX GAMES WORK FINE" because that's not emulation.

Yes, ok I had to formulate it different

and yes, I know about PSP and PSX. What I think is that nintendo will surely take adventage of the analog stick an port more N64 games to his portable platform. So like I said, there will be more N64 games coming to 3DS. And that sure is obvious.

When it's to the point that it's far easier to list things it doesn't do than things it does do, N64 emulation can't be considered crappy.

Imperfect, definitely, but not crappy.
Well, right. I used the wrong term, pretty much because the emu had just crashed on me

Really imperfect, I'd add, but I guess that most things do work, in a way or other.

I just hope a new emu will surface, one day or another.

1. Yeah, your right. Just how games look has NOTHING to do if something can emulate something.

2. I can probably repeat myself endlessy but anyway. To make it short. The N64 emulator on the psp is made by developers who don't have a 100% understanding of both systems. It is still nowhere near properly optimized, though even then it won't get fullspeed at most games. But I still think that at least some N64 games can be playable emulated on the PSP.

3. Yes, it is psx emulation.. Don't believe me? Actually, look it up before sprouting totally nonesense. Again this is only possible because of sonys deep understanding and documentation of both consoles.

@raulpica Did you even try to solve your problems. Because you sure as hell just stating random problems which could be based on anything. Instead it's all the emus fault. Also there's a lot to configure regarding glide64. Especially in the settings for the frame buffer. That's naturally only if you decided to spend more than 5 minutes with said plugin.

I think it maybe a possibility. However, I don't want to get my hopes up. Although being able to play zelda, goldeneye, beetle adventure racing, and banjo kazooie "on the go" would be awesome!

You have nothing better to do with your life other than assuming things?
I obviously did. Try harder, next time.

hard to say actually.
if what's being said that the 3DS will be as powerful as the gamecube, it will mean it's more powerful than the PSP.
however there's a reason the PSP with it's 333mhz CPU can emulate the 99mhz N64 so well(relatively speaking)
PS1, PSP, and N64 all are MIPS based, which means their CPU's pretty much all speak the same language.
this means very little instructions really need to be translated, but just "guided' into the right direction.

N64 porting(and probably gamecube porting) however shouldn't be much of a problem.

Are we giving 3DS too much credit? It's power may only be increased slightly, then again it could be OVER 9000!!!!!

I couldn't resist.

No you aren't giving the 3DS enough credit. This is the next generation of gaming and if Nintendo wants to actually compete and not get ridiculed it's going to have dish out something with at least GC level hardware

Nintendo better do good, I'm gonna be kind of pissed off if I can't play Nintendo 64 games when the PSP can play PS1...

sorry, but this threads pretty much pointless. not to rain on your parade, but we know next to nothing about the 3ds. who knows if it will ever get hacked, let alone allow emulation of any kind on it. its quite probable that it will be powerful enough to emulate n64, but at this point nobody knows when or if will be hacked, and if we did know, honey, you aint seein it for a looooonng time. nutz out...
It will get hacked 100%, when the next-gen consoles were out, everyone thought they won't get hacked, now all 3 of them are hackable, yes it may take 1-2 years, but it WILL get hacked, by far the only Console/Handheld that hasn't been hacked is the DSi (DSi XL too).

not hacked to the point that the average flashcart using pirate can notice it.
i do believe DSi mode has been(partially) achieved already, just not to the point that commercial DSi roms can be launched(and no flashcarts currently support it).

Rumours say it has an accellerometer too...

But I don't think we can carry wiis in our pockets yet...
Dude most touchphones has accellerometers, don't think it's special or something...

Just because it's the next generation of gaming that doesn't mean it's going to be almighty powerful, the fact of the matter is, it doesn't necessarily have to have massive "GC level hardware" it's the quality of the games that count. I think it maybe wishful thinking that it could possibly emulate GC, it would have soo much bulk and the battery life would be terrible.

the dsi hasnt even got a virtual console for gba chances are pretty slim they would add one for the 3ds....over 9000 you say
ohmy.gif

sorry...

Main reason I bought my DSi is because of the GBA virtual console it was gonna have. But that rumor didn't turn into anything. But I'm happy that I got my DSi anyways, love the camera and Flipnote Studio. As for the 3DS, I said this earlier so I will just quote it.
