My 3ds has been like this for a while, but I have no idea what to do. I've tried almost everything, but it still won't turn back on.

What have u tried?
Well not exactly everything, I tried everything within my ability, since I'm trying to gather more details on it before I go and buy an NTRboot card thingy, but I've tried all I know of that i can do with just a 3ds, an sd card, and a pc. Although, I do have 2 more if those could help with it, but I'd prefer to keep what I have on my main one, which is the one that won't turn on.

Now it's back to the blue light flashing, even with the sd card in
The Updating B9S guide can't done be if you have the original boot9strap v1.0 installed because that version can't read versions of Luma3DS newer than v7.1.

You'll need to install/update boot9strap v1.3 using the SafeB9SInstaller v0.0.7 as the sdmc:/boot.firm. Once that's done, switch out that boot.firm with Luma3DS v10.1.3 and follow the rest of the Finalizing Setup.

I already had homebrew installed, and I have the backup of my sd card in my pc, would it be bad to double homebrew it?

What you have installed is the original v1.0 of boot9strap on the 3DS system. That's the bootloader responsible for launching FIRM payloads (ie, boot.firm) from the SD card (external memory) or the CTRNAND (internal memory) if the SD card is missing or does not contain that file.

That has to be updated or reinstalled on the FIRM0 and FIRM1 partitions of the 3DS system's NAND (general or entire internal memory), or else your n3DSXL won't be able to use the latest Luma3DS v10.1.3.

After successfully updating to B9S v1.3 with the SafeB9SInstaller (temporarily as the sdmc:/boot.firm) and boot9strap payload (sdmc:/boot9strap/boot9strap.firm , boot9strap.firm.sha , the *.firm gets injected/overwrites/updates the old versions on those FIRM0/1 partitions), you'll then copy all your main setup files back onto the SD card, replace the sdmc:/boot.firm with latest Luma3DS, and redo the Finalizing Setup to update the other homebrew .CIA & .3DSX apps AND to also update or install CTRNAND Luma3DS (to be able to boot without an SD card).

When following the Updating B9S tutorial, instead of having these:
  • sdmc:/boot.firm (Luma3DS v10.1.3)
  • sdmc:/boot9strap/boot9strap.firm
  • sdmc:/boot9strap/boot9strap.firm.sha
  • sdmc:/luma/payloads/SafeB9SInstaller.firm
, rename the SafeB9SInstaller and put this in place of Luma3DS.
  • SafeB9SInstaller.firm boot.firm

Follow that guide but with this SD card setup.
  • sdmc:/boot.firm (SafeB9SInstaller v0.0.7)
  • sdmc:/boot9strap/boot9strap.firm
  • sdmc:/boot9strap/boot9strap.firm.sha

After boot9strap v1.3 is installed onto the n3DSXL, delete those three files. Add back the Luma3DS v10.1.3 as the sdmc:/boot.firm, and then complete the rest of this with Finalizing Setup.

I put all the right files on in the right directories, but I'm still having the same issue, the power LED's only coming on for a second then turning back off

Try cleaning the microSD card slot reader of any dust contamination with a drinking straw. Do not blow air into the slot as spit can corrode the pins. Instead, pull the air as a DIY vacuum.

Try inserting the microSD card at different angles to get a better seating connection. If that first card fails, take a different microSD card, reformat it in [ FAT32 | 32 KB cluster size | MBR disk | Primary partition ], and add in the boot.firm (SafeB9SInstaller) & boot9strap *.firm & *.sha.

If that also doesn't work, maybe your n3DSXL's microSD card slot reader was on its way out where it's too worn to seat the pins against the card contacts. You might need to disassemble and replace the reader.

LATE EDIT - Also try the battery trick. This is in case the n3DSXL's RAM is stuck in some sort of failed boot loop.

Now when I turn on the system, I get this error
Your n3DSXL has software brick.

Repair the 3DS firmware + custom firmware with CTRTransfer (Type D9) - CTRTransfer. Carefully read and follow the Instructions.

If you're using that CFW starter kit, you can start at step 6 if the SD card's been checked before in H2testw.
