please describe what you have done and what happens with the console when you try.
I tried following the formatting guide, I tried to install the CFW starter package and I tried to put someone else's 3ds files into the sd card and none of it worked also unfortunately I don't have a backup of the sd card

which step did you run into problems with, and what files of someone else's did you use? did you manage to get boot9 installed? might be as simple as having a boot.firm on your sd card for luma 3ds.

please i tried every solution i could find i need help
When did you install CFW? If it was a long time ago you may need to update your softmod.
Do you know if you have A9LH or B9S?

If you're on B9S it's probably enough following this: https://3ds.guide/finalizing-setup
If you're still on A9LH, update your softmod by following this: https://3ds.hacks.guide/a9lh-to-b9s
If your softmod is old you may not have either of them in which case you should follow this and hack the 3DS from scratch again: https://3ds.hacks.guide/get-started

B9S i think
There is a way to check, the latest version of Luma supported by A9LH is 7.0.5 so if you download 7.0.5 and put the arm9loaderhax.bin on your SD and it works, then you have A9LH. https://github.com/AuroraWright/Luma3DS/releases

If it doesn't, try the latest release and place the boot.firm on your SD. If that gives an error or black screens the 3DS then you likely have an older version of B9S and should follow https://3ds.hacks.guide/updating-b9s
But if it just loads as normal in both cases, you likely don't have either of them.

You'll still want to follow the finalizing part of the guide if it turns out you have B9S already and get it working with boot.firm, just to get the essential homebrew back and such. In addition, you should grab boot.3dsx from https://github.com/fincs/new-hbmenu/releases and place it on the SD, it's needed for some of the steps in the finalizing setup part of the guide.

theres also a way to check what version of B9S you have by booting into godmode9 and checking the sha256 of the currently installed version. (thats if you even have it installed, if you have al9h, then obviously this info is moot)

or zoogie made a gm9 script to check it. ( i cant remember where it was posted...)

boot into godmode9 (hold start on boot)

Sysnand virtual -> firm0.bin -> FIRM image options -> Mount image to drive -> header.bin -> calculate sha256

The boot9strap versions will have header sha256's based on this chart:

1.0: 5C3B0CD4FE0C4987AF764B9FEFAD8B8ED39929E6EA9A8F6D782C24 09BB16930A
1.1: 893A8A5B9B87FD1869AAA0BAE9BCAA3C9102DFEC1FFACB2561321F 53B6091884
1.2: 9DDE2F7258FD1EE88EDE335ED781053F8925269D8720FE87BE4E2B D35B5990D3
1.3: 7C2E1DC860858BF9C7285915957FE64AF3B1B812C57FCB2C417881 D31EE4246C

Please note that you don't have to compare the entire number to this. The first 3-4 chars is probably enough.

Good tip. 1.2 or 1.3 shouldn't matter too much, as long as he has 1.2+ the latest Luma should work just fine. But on 1.0/1.1 only Luma3DS 7.1 works.

sorry none of it worked my 3ds still ist booting on
@MrToxidoCat, did you use this CFW starter kit?

Okay, let's start from the beginning.
  1. Copy everything off the SD card over to a computer.
    • If you have a spare card, preferably 4 GB in size, temporarily use that as a substitution.
  2. Reformat the card with MiniTool Partition Wizard (free edition) with the following settings:
    • :!: Do not install the Lavasoft Adaware Web Companion (bloatware). See this.
      • Format: FAT32
      • Cluster Size: 32 KB
      • Partition: Primary
      • Disk: MBR
    • MiniTool Partition Wizard Software Tutorial Guide
      1. Delete Partition (for both partitions)
      2. Initialize to MBR Disk -or- Convert GPT to MBR Disk (if it's in GPT Disk)
      3. Rebuild MBR
      4. Create a New Partition [ Create as: Primary | File System: FAT32 | Cluster Size: 32 KB ]
  3. Full Write + Verify test the empty card using H2testw (Windows), F3 (Linux), or F3X (Mac). Do not skip this step.
    • Here's where having a small card comes in handy.
  4. If the card passes inspection, delete the *.h2w test files.
    • :!: If an hardware error was reported, replace the failed card and go back to step 1.
  5. Add these two (2) files on the root of your card:
  6. Insert the SD card in the 3DS, turn on the system, and hold (SELECT) button.

On the bottom screen, which of these do you see?
  • Luma3DS v7.0.5 configurationA9LH to B9S
  • SafeB9SInstaller v0.0.7Updating B9S
    • Keep SafeB9SInstaller as boot.firm. After the update, replace boot.firm with Luma3DS.
  • Nothing. My 3DS boots blank. :(

7. If booting is successful, continue with upgrading to boot9strap v1.3 followed by CTRNAND Luma3DS.
  • CTRNAND Luma3DS allows for booting without an SD card.

Does it turn on then off (ie does the blue light go on then off a second later)? If so, get a new SD card from a brick and mortar shop (not online) and follow TurdPooCharger's steps again.

Does the blue light come on then stay on until you force power it off by holding down the power button for a few seconds? If so, it sounds bricked and you will need an ntrboot flashcart.

Or does the blue light not even come on? If so sounds like a hardware problem and you'll probably need to buy a new console.
