Hello. I got a N3DS with the Happy Home Designer bundle and the top screen seems to have a yellow tint, and I'll probably post a picture tomorrow. I read that it was due to the glue or something, but further read that this is not the case. I've already opened the system up, done a transfer and everything. Is it too late to do anything about it?

I read that yellow tinted screens are better for the eyes and actually the proper color calibration. It's the blue/white screens that are wrong. Have you ever heard of the program f.lux for windows? I imagine that Nintendo makes the screens yellow to make them easier on our eyes. This is just my conjecture though.

No, the screens are tinted yellow because the N3DS and N3DS XL were some of the poorest manufactured pieces of garbage ever, even worse than the DS Lite.

Let's see:
- Nintendo themselves admit to people in support that they took in a MASSIVE amount of N3DS repairs when that Animal Crossing shovelware game launched. N3DSes of all kinds ship DOA CONSTANTLY, ESPECIALLY the limited-edition ones.
- The SD card slot is... behind the backplate. Meaning you need to unscrew the back screws (and this is NOT easy), take off the backplate, and... switch memory cards that way. This is really stupid.
- The XL when it first came out, and to my knowledge now, still has two different "models" which you can find out by the type of screen
--- some come with a TN screen, which aside from having garbage for viewing angles (horrible on a handheld), displays color somewhat poorly even at proper angles (at improper angles everything will look utterly terrible, look online for TN screen tests)
--- others come with a IPS screen, which has much better viewing angles and actually displays colors properly

It was a lottery which one you'd get.

An N3DS is kind of pointless anyway. It has one whole game: Xenoblade.

Get it repaired.
Also, when the system is in Power Saving Mode with 3D off, it's going to have a strong tilt.
Your all wrong this will fade away in time from usage while the screen is on his New 3DS is not defective.

Quit blowing Nintendo. Both models of the New 3DS are VERY frequently defective and a screen being terribly miscolored is a very good indicator that yes, it is messed up.
The adhesive inside of his 3DS screen has yet to dry up that's how new his 3DS is, if it bothers him he should return it, but I dont know where you're getting your facts from that

Had the same problem on my N3DS and it faded away after a day or two.
Well, that's the thing. Mine hasn't gone away yet. It's most noticeable on the home menu. So, is it due to an adhesive that will go away after about forever, or should I send this thing in for repair knowing that I'll probably not get it back for about three months or so?

If you bought it recently swap it out saying its defective repairs are costly and most likely not needed, if your out of warranty take the 3DS leave it on plugged in full brightness playing an intensive game and it should fade away if it doesn't send it out for repair. Also you never posted any pictures

what the hell.

The "adhesive" hasn't dried? What the hell does that mean?

Seriously, quit blowing Nintendo. Their "quality" has been nothing short of shit in recent years.

It means the unit has not sat on a shelf for very long it got manufactured sent to retail and purchased within days. You are way too mad over something that doesn't affect you so take the **** out of your ass jesus.

...except no screen on earth works like this.

Are you trying to act stupid, or something?

What would glue have to do with the damn circuit boards processing colors then outputting them to a screen? Nothing.
It's a fault of the screen or the circuit boards/electronics, meaning Nintendo fucked up something (WHAT A TWIST!) and they need to "repair" (aka send you another defective model) it for you.

Without pictures you can't make that assumption either hence we want pictures. Get blocked, muted, reported to FBI,and rekt gg hold the spaghetti sauce.

Honestly the N3ds screen's appearance, besides being a bit larger, is almost exactly like the orig 3ds. That includes meh contrast, color fidelity, refresh rate, and temperature 'sync' between bottom/top screens. It's acceptable, but not near as nice as the XL. Just live with it, it's a cheaper model and lowered component quality is to be expected.

you just fell victim to the panel lottery
http://neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1009798

Its been going on a long time with nintendo, since they basically use the cheapest lowest quality parts they can get to profit off each system
There is no lottery with the normal new3ds. You will get the cheapy LCD (TN) with all the issues I outlined in my previous post.

Truth be told, the tint is hardly noticeable unless I turn on the 3D, in which case the colors suddenly make a slight but visible correction until I turn it back off. It makes me wonder why I'm so hung up about it.

Is English your tenth language? Seriously, what the hell did you even say? What pictures are you trying to ask for?

The XL suffers from the same thing and it is most definitely NOT a "cheaper" model. They're SUPPOSED to use the same internals with the difference being size and one can use those useless faceplates.

Quit blowing Nintendo.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
