Mystery scifi movie

A few years ago I watched (and kept) this movie but I somehow lost it. I think it was B&W but I'm not totally sure. It seemed like a 60s movie. It was on this island with few inhabitants. It was a normal drama-like movie with a guy trying to woo this lady but then she started to notice something weird about the inhabitants and then saw them needing to be "serviced" (no not like that you dirty-minded reader) and realized that all of the inhabitants weren't human.

Hopefully someone knows because I would like to watch it again.

Reminds me of a lot of movies / books / comics / TV show episodes where it turns out the inhabitants of the island are

dead, robots or aliens, but in 90% of the versions, dead.

To narrow it down to just the black and white, 60s period works: I could have sworn there was an episode of the Twilight Zone with this plot, but googling brings this up instead:

Unfortunately, no. It was definitely a lot older than that.

Could it have been one of the Island of Doctor Moreau adaptations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Island_of_Doctor_Moreau#Adaptations)?
There have been a number of them (and one of them in '59 apparently ).
