Obviously he changed the internal resolution between the comparison screenshots (recognizable by the aliasing of 3D objects). This alone will change the texture quality and has nothing to do with the texture pack.
If everyone starts making comparison shots like this, nobody will be able to see what the texture pack actually does, so dont do this please. It hides the true improvement and tricks unexperienced users.

I didnt change a thing, both shots were at 12x resolution. i had texture pack on/off set to f11 to switch it on and off easily to take the photos. I just uploaded a video switching between the two incase you have doubts. Maybe with the replacements off it adds jaggies within the pcsx2 screenshot viewer, i have no idea. I just uploaded a video which i didnt feel like doing with shadowplay so you can see for yourself the difference, knowing im not changing resolutions or anything while i run it, just using the replacement hotkeys. I mean i spent 13 hours of my own time acquiring the dump, and blackhand spent his own time upscaling it, even with both of our personal problems we are enduring, for other peoples personal enjoyment for free. I just wish everyone was a bit more positive about things in here sometimes.

These are the screenshots you showed here and which you labeled as "before upscaled" and "12x resolution". The font in the first shot is completely pixelated. Same with the outlines of all the 3D models, including the character.

This is exactly the result that I get, if I set internal resolution to native:

Sly 3 - Honor Among Thieves_SCUS-97464_20240819112127.png

If I just change the resolution from native to 6x without loading texture replacements, this will happen:

Sly 3 - Honor Among Thieves_SCUS-97464_20240819112234.png

So already a huge difference, just by changing the settings.

And THIS is what it looks like, if I also load texture replacements:

Sly 3 - Honor Among Thieves_SCUS-97464_20240819112458.png

The last two shots are the real difference between the original textures and Blacks texture pack (both 6x IR):

This is not about Black (I didn't say a word about him and it wasn't him who made these "comparison shots", it was you) or being "negative about things". It's about giving users a true impression what a texture pack will change.

And I'm a bit pissed that you attacked me that harsh (before you edited your post) and forced me to download this pack just to prove that you lied to me.

I apologize, and i realised it was too harsh which is why i edited the post, and added a video right after it to show the difference. But i sincerely didnt change the resolution on the pictures, anytime i added the picture files directly from pcsx2 it would just show the attachments and not the pictures in the thread. so i took the screenshots, copied and pasted them as they were in paint, and saved them as jpgs. if thats deceptive, it wasnt my intention. ive only been doing this for a very short time, so if that was happening it must have been set to do that within the pcsx2 settings from with to without texture replacements, without me realising it did that in the first place. was under the impression just turning them off and on would not affect internal resolution.

It's not like im doing this for any personal gain, and after playing through the entire game i have no motivation to play this again for years now. My only sole purpose in doing the dumps is to fill holes in the upscaling library for everyone else on here to enjoy. I dont have a patreon and i certainly dont want money donations or fame. So maybe i made a mistake due to not realising every different setting pcsx2 changes when you take screenshots. But there is was never any neferious means behind me doing it.

Thats fine, thanks for your honest words.

I realise youve been doing this longer than me, so next time ill try and make sure to just copy and paste the attachments like i did with the shadow of destiny pictures, even if they dont show the pictures outright. also, i noticed when i checked your upscale for dragon quest viii, they look suspiciously similar to the thief 1vierocks work. and i suspect that crook who sells his upscales through paywalls on ko-fi, has stolen your work and is selling it as we speak. luckily, i have a link on archive.org that i will pm you and you can check it out for yourself

Added:
24 The Game
Headhunter
Jak The Final Frontier
Star Wars Jedi Starfighter
The Getaway: Black Monday

Thank you @dalmation666 for dumping the textures.

I haven't had time to test these, so please let me know if there are any issues.

I should have the Silent Hill pack done in the next day or two, just know that due to how the game dumps textures, it's probably going be around 15 to 20gb.....

I'm not going to post comparison photos because of the issues i had with them last time. But ill post some of Getaway Black Monday, 6x upscale with the texture pack enabled and let that do the talking. Nearly looks ps4 quality honestly. Impressive work.

Thanks for the screenshots, I appreciate it.

Seems to have come out nicely :)

Silent Hill 1 is up. The pack is huge though, I can't delete the dupe files, because they're needed.

If anyone can figure out if certain duplicate files can be safely removed, that would be great :)

Edit: Just so everyone is aware, Silent Hill has some rough textures with heavy pixelation and some of those textures are mashed up into a greater texture file. There are a couple of textures in the early game that will have some black lines around them, I tried to fix it but I couldn't. I did the textures as I played through the game, section by section and tested as much as I could.

The only other slight issue, tree textures, they look a bit funny while obscured by the fog, but otherwise, they're fine once you get close. This pack took me almost 30 hours in total to make and I can't spend more time on it. I'm sorry about the few wonky textures, but I can't dedicate more time to this one.

Thanks for the great work on Mister Mosquito and other games. However, having finally gotten around to playing it with the texture pack, etc, I noticed something that I felt looked somewhat amiss, please pardon me if this comes off as rude or unappreciative in any way, I just want to have the best possible texture pack for these games.

It seems Rena's head, face, hair, eyes, etc, have all been upscaled, and look fantastically better, along with the rest of the Yamada family members, however... it seems at least with Rena in the initial level, her body texture still remains the far lower resolution original PS2 models and textures. And, beyond that, at least to me... her body's a different skin tone than her head and face, and, again, as grateful as I am for this texture pack and ALL your amazing texture packs, I say this only in the name of getting the most faithful, immersive texture packs possible around, and we can always improve our works, IMO. 🙏

This is with the texture pack enabled:1726351376862.png
vs how she appears in the base game:

Please let me clearly state, however, that literally everything else in your texture pack here, the bed, the floor textures, the wall textures, windows, ceilings, everything in the house, is AMAZINGLY better and breathes a huge surge of new life into this obscure PS2 classic. It just felt a bit jarring to see her head looking, IMO, a bit more peachy and "warm" toned in skin tone compared to her body, and her head just being notably more detailed than her arms, hands, legs, t-shirt, etc. I understand it would certainly be a lot more effort to upscale the rest of her and the family members in other scenes, but I do also think the tone of her head and body could be made more seamless and "matching" with one another.

Thank you so much for this amazing texture pack and SO many other amazing ones! Feel free to ignore this nitpick if you'd rather not bother, it just stuck out a bit to me. 🙏Thanks for listening and helping keep the PS2 library alive.

I'll look into that, I don't know if any recent changes to PCSX2 messed with something in the pack because when I tested it, tthat didn't happen.

I'll run it again with a few different settings and see if I can find the problem :)

I recently got my mind to play wild arms for ps1. Is it possible to make the texture pack for this game?
I'll do a test run and see if it dumps textures properly :)

Hey man any chance you could do a HD pack for Ratchet & Clank Size Matters & Secret Agent Clank please?
I'll add those to the list and get to them asap :)

pretty sure blackhand usually only upscales psone games through retroarch/beetle hw. could be wrong
