I just bought this 3ds xl and it already had a mt-card and games on it. It worked fine so in the profile I put my daughters name, that was the only change I made and now everytime I try to open up Nintendo ds profile im getting this error " An error has occurred, forcing the software to close. The system will now restart. Is it something ive done or is there something I can do to fix it?? Please help Im giving this to my daughter in a couple days.

Thanks in advance
Jamey

Stupid question, but what system firmware shows up in the setting?

If it's < 4.5, have you installed the exploit? May want to install it again.

No, its not stupid.

He bought a 3ds with MT-card already in it. It was <4.5 when he bought it. However, he might have accidentally updated it.

OR... most likely the seller wipe the device clean hence the launcher.dat might be missing.

So Jamey, check the sd card (in your 3ds not the Mtcard). See if there's a file called launcher.dat in there. If not, google where to download it.

Thanks for the fast updates. it is currently 4.2.0-9u I played it twice since I bought it Saturday morning just to get familiar with accessing the games. Let me find my micro sd adapter and see if its on there.

It's on the SD inside the 3DS, the little door on the right side.

Should be a launcher.dat file on it. If it's not there, it could cause that error. Verify it's the right one, if it is, could try relaunching the exploit from first card.

The crappy thing is I didn't know there was supposed to be a yellow mt-card and a blue one. he only gave me the yellow one.

Should ask him about that. If you ever need to reload the exploit, you'll need that card :(

Or if you load a DS cart and it wipes that profile.

yeah I bought it from a 10 yo kid lol. But luckily I know where he lives and im going to ask about it tomorrow and or offer to buy it from him.

Well it comes as a set when bought, so he should give it to you.

I know GW blue card can be used a DS cart, so he may have kept it for that reason? Who knows. Worth asking.

I'm with you guys on that. At the same time I'd hate to argue with a 10 yo and then most likely have to whip his dads ass over a $75 card. :)

Well depends, not sure which version of the MT firmware your card has. Do you know the MD5 hash of the launcher.dat?

If the system was formatted, it would open the old-school 3DS NDS profile. There is a new firmware, but I believe it requires the card to be updated via USB too. Check the MD5 first.

Edit: Now that I think about it, when you say you put your daughters name in "Profile" are you talking about the 3DS profile? or the Nintendo DS Profile?

Well first things first, I can reproduce that error by not having a launcher.dat file on my SD card. So there's a LAUNCHER.DAT in the root of the SD Card?
Right click on it, choose properties, what's the Size and Size on Disk?

Before checking hashes, wanted to figure that out first. Trying to figure out whether the file is bad, or the NDS exploit is gone
