it's a 1GB card but didn't realise you had to lock it. works fine now.

And it finds the share on my NAS [ once I have drilled down far enough past the MNT/.../.../ stuff

]

Now to test it.

Ah, I didn't - sorry.

I just copied it onto the SD card and used the uPnP server functionality of my NAS drive. Geexbox just found straight away. Though the entry for SMB:

STATIC_SMB="ipmyservernameshare1"

in the etc/network file looks very similar to MPlayer. I am presuming ip is the ip addy of your pc and myservername is the name of the pc. I haven't actually tried it yet.

As I say I am trying very hard to fault the quality of the video but I can't at the moment.

Next step, if it's even possible, is turning it from a HBC 'application' to its own channel.

I've tried two or three different divx/xvid tv shows but I get scrambled vision. The sound stutters and then I get scrambled vision forcing me to hard reboot. Probably the files I'm picking but I haven't found a file that plays "normal" yet.

Sorry djdynamite123, can't help you.

I tried all the combinations for STATIC_SMB I could think of but nothing worked - unless I was having the same 'need to use a certain text editor to save' problem as you.

Hi DJ

Try Downloading this editor http://www.ultraedit.at/mirror/downloads/uedownloads.html in the geexbox readme it recommends this editor in order for it to work. I tried it with notepad and when you open geexbox it hangs at a black screen. I am going to be looking into geexbox streaming as it is supposed to be one of the best out there. Hopefully this helps you as you have been helpful to everyone else. Give it a shot anyway.

Cheers

Pretty sure you just do "Open file..." and the bottom option is "SHARES/" though when I just tried it, due it autoscanning, it first only came up with "FRONTSD/" but on going back to main menu and then back into Open File all 3 options (uPnP, SD and shares) were there.
