Well, I see your point of view, but I don't think everyone looks down on R4 owners - personally, I have sympathy for you guys, and at least you still get it to work. If I look down on anyone related to the R4, it's the cloners that managed to cheat members of our community.

GBalpha made and marketed R4 as well. The R4 team was not the M3 team, but both were/are owned & sold by GBalpha (M3 is a product line, not a company).

They aren't loved on their own official forums either. Sakura's slow buggy releases and dropping support for R4/M3Simply/M3/G6 Slot-2 have people mad... this MoonLight scandal just fuels the fire.

Not meaning to fuel the fire or anything, but I can't help but think Moonshell 2 wouldn't even exist if M3 didn't tick off Moonlight...if that is the case anyway.

Well, the M3 team (or one of them if it's a case of multiple teams) would have to have paid Moonlight to make Sakura.
I don't know about you, but if I paid (or said I'd pay) for some custom software, I'd throw in an exclusivity clause somewhere in the work contract to be the only one who gets to use it.

So either...
1.) Moonlight started releasing beta's of Moonshell 2, clearly based on Sakura and breaking his end of the contract.
or
2.) M3 broke their end of the contract and Moonlight started work on Moonshell 2 in retaliation.

Of course, this is just speculation on my part.
But if any of it is partially true, the majority would, funnily enough, have to thank M3 for the existence of Moonshell 2.
Or aim your hate towards Moonlight if it's case 1 instead.

Anyway...

All this blind hate is rather depressing. By boycotting M3 and spreading hate you're hurting the innocent grunt workers for something that the brass would have been responsible for.
You're essentially justifying any form of blind hate otherwise you'd be a hypocrite.
But maybe that's just me.

Well, it could just as easily be the other way around.
Moonlight could've had Moonshell 2 in the works and used it to base Sakura off of when M3 contacted him.
But that would mean he already had the majority of the work done beforehand.

@wolfmanz51: the included readme you added to the file (in the downloads section) has no formatting. its one lump of text making it very hard to read and understand. it is also very verbose. any chance of adding a readme that just has the facts to better help out everyone who is having issues setting it up on their flash kit?

Yeah I planed to Tidy up the release when I got any reports of problems and I rushed the read me because I wanted to get this to you guys fast and a lot of people downloaded it that night about 300 over night.
I'm Going to work on it today and Im going to add some things I'll also improve the translation a bit.

That doesn't work. Just a black box with some letters waiting for me to type something.

Actually the black box is exactly what it was supposed to work like

Carry on with these steps:

4. type "chkdsk F: /f" and enter
Replace "F:" with your drive letter of course
5. it will fix your card for you. If it asks for anything, answer as you like
6. voila!

All it did was tell me how much bytes are in my SD. Am I missing something? how is this gunna cure Moonshell2 O_O'
It just said something about Mother 3 (in my GBA Folder) but nothing about MoonShell.

Just wondering how many people in this thread own an M3 Real, and how many of those who don't own an M3 Real are going nuts at the M3 Team? I agree Moonlight had gotten the bad end of the deal but he might rethink this through and go back. This is my opinion but I'm thinking that other flashcart users were jealous of the Sakura firmware and how nice it looked and when they finally got a good taste of it with Moonshell 2 and having it stopped at 2.0 beta 5 they were outraged, though I'm not saying he might not update Moonshell 2. Boycotting and banning M3 isn't the answer, that would be a waste of a good flashcart.
Not everyone knows the full story, who knows if he didn't read the contract through or not. He had been payed at the start and god knows how much he was paid to do it, did he release any information of that? If M3 went out of business from boycotts and bans there would probably be another annoying clone like the R4 clones, people who work at M3 who had no part in Moonlight getting "ripped off" would lose their jobs.
I didn't buy my M3 Real for Sakura, I bought it because it was a cheaper equivalent to the CycloDS Evo.

Thats all I have to say, I might be wrong or right.

Couldn't have said it better myself.

I do own an M3DS Real. I'll leave it at that.

and thanks to wolfmanz51 for the adequate translation!
I just copied moonshl2.nds and moonshl2 (folder) to TF root on my EDGE.
This allows me to selectively use moonshl, moonshl2 and DSOrganize - Nice!

Except that I have to cycle power to exit moonshl2.
"reset.mse is still not working as it needs EDGE.nds file or something like that... " - Ein-kun

I have been "boycotting" (never buying or recommending again) M3 since my M3 slot 2 card proved to be an annoying waste of time and money, my M3 Simply's spring broke and my M3 Real fell apart in my hands. I got screwed 3 times by M3 and did not even get a kiss!

I think Moonlight should provide a "tip jar" button. I would throw in a few bucks.
I voted "Yes Boycot and ban M3" but only because "Tar and Feather" was not a choice.

I think maybe posting some entertaining videos to youtube is a good way to tell new users about the problems with M3. What I mean is not some half baked review where someone is holding the camera with one hand and a ds in the other, struggling to hold the camera straight. If you have some friends who can read a line decently and have a camera, make a video and post it. Lots and lots of videos that ds users want to watch will get M3's attention. I really think boycotting is only going to do part of what needs to be done to send a message.

Also I have an R4 and M3 and I am not really happy with my M3 because it does not seem to run many of the homebrew apps I want to run. as an alternative to m3, what would you suggest as a replacement? I was considering an Acekard 2i AK2i, supercard ds one or edge. Also I have a ds lite and I was wondering if anyone knows if the Acekard 2i AK2i runs on the ds lite? I have a supercard slot 2 card for gba and I really was no happy with it, but I heard the ds one was much better. Any thoughts?

To use the Reset function you have to rename your flashcarts reset.mse form the old moonshell or your system folder to the name of your dldi adapter for example for a cyclo as included in this relese and its DLDI name is CEVO so you would rename it to "CEVO.nds" then place it in the "resetmse" folder located within the "moonshl2" folder

I don't really care about the whole "M3 Team is corrupt" stance, the M3 Real is a great preforming cart and there is no use having it goto waste. So I'm just going to keep buying M3 products and recommending them because they are decent and cheap.
For Example:
Noob: "What cart should I buy?"
Random: "Get CycloDS or R4 Upgrade!?!?"
Me: "Get an M3 Real they're great"
Random: "D:!? M3 ARE EVIL!?!?!?!???!?!?? EVIL!!!!!!111111"

I'm just wondering, if some other person than Moonlight that had made Sakura or Mooshell or whatever was in Moonlight's position and you had never even heard of got "ripped off", would many of you make a big fuss about it? Even yet, if Moonlight had no plans or worked on Moonshell 2, would you still go off your nut?
Again, these are just my voiced opinions.

@PettingZoo mostly not if a unknown developer got ripped by the M3 Team, however moonlight was among the best DS devs with moonshell being one of the top homebrews.

I feel bad for moonlight cause he did get ripped off and could've gotten potentially thousands of dollars from the mass sales of M3 REALs.

If someone were to set up a donation for moonlight, I'd chip in.
