I get perfect results quality wise on my DPG movies. If I have to go somewhere, I just put a few tv series episodes on it and watch it anywhere.

But besides watching DPG's on it, theres not much else I use it for. It would be good if it had file operations, and being able to properly launching nds roms.

But you know, thats just my opinion

lol you make no sense.

moonshell is really just for show.
ehh, not really.

who really uses it?
who doesn't?

like why watch movies on your ds when you can watch it on your computer or T.V.
Because you can't carry your TV around anywhere you go.

also why listen to music when you can listen to music on your ipod/mp3/computer like idk if i missed anything on moonshell but if i did please post but this is my opinion
lol then how about people that doesn't have an mp3 player, nor a laptop that they can carry around?
Portability is something. Look, there are lots of people out there that doesn't stay at home all day like you.

Wasn't sakura a clone of MS anyway? (correct me if I'm wrong).
Lol no, it's not a clone. The developer also worked with the Sakura team.

still i dont think you wanna watch a movie on your ds in a public place you probly wouldnt be even be able to hear the sound
As one of the mods explained (I think it was ace or dice, don't remember)
playing on your DS in the public is the same as playing games on your cellphone in the public. Using the same logic, watching vids on your DS is the same thing as watching vids on your ipod etc.
There are also something called earphones.

also mp3 players are like 10 bucks now
good luck finding one that supports exterior memory, and at least have 4gb of internal memory for 10 bucks.

Lol if moonshell really sucked, then why would almost all of the flashcarts have moonshell as the default media player?

Moonshell is totaly not overrated.
It completes my NDS by next to playing games adding media to it.
Always use my NDS as mp3 player keep it in my innerpocket of my jacket.
biggrin.gif

As its battery is so powerfull I charge it not so often.
No way I would trade it for anything.

I fully agree with psycoblaster, Moonshell for the win!

Greetz, Vistabuser.

I use moonshell more than I play games. I don't have an mp3 player because buying a DS Phat (I like my Phats), a basic flashcart (online), and a 4GB MicroSD card costs less than buying a 4GB MP3 player that can only play music (or videos, which costs more for a feature I might not even use) that has a rechargeable battery and the ability to have more memory just by switching out a card.

Who needs videos on the go? I don't need to drain my battery like that. Someone else may need it and it's their choice to use Moonshell or not.

Moonshell 2 does exactly what I need it to do. Hell, Moonshell 1.71 did what I needed it to do. Play music. And if I got bored of the music, I'd play games by simply pressing a couple of buttons in less than 10 seconds. And if I wanted to play music while playing games, I'd listen to the game music.

If Moonshell is overrated as one of the only multimedia apps for the DS then there is something wrong with your argument, sir.

Edit: I have a friend who really gets into Phoenix Wright and Trauma Center. Not even at the peak of her gaming did she stop using Moonshell.

Well, why did Nintendo make handhelds? To play away from home, on the road, etc. My iPod is broken so I watch movies on my DS sometimes, like when I'm in the car or something.

the only useful thing i see in moonshell is the book reading ablility

DINGDINGDING WE HAVE A WINNER!
That's exactly what I use moonshell for. For me, all those other DS reader apps just don't measure up.

Research before you say something. It makes you appear less unintelligent. Don't have figures to back you up? Then don't say anything.

like why watch movies on your ds when you can watch it on your computer or T.V.
Does portability mean anything to you?

also why listen to music when you can listen to music on your ipod/mp3/computer
1) You can't carry your computer wherever you go.
2) Not everyone have iPods or MP3 players.

Hooray for starting topics to show how totally ignorant and narrow minded your opinions are. While I agree that the DS is a not-so-good MP3 player with its 9-bit resolution and 32 kHz samplerate I can't see a problem people using it when they don't care about those limitations. I also like watching a movie or a TV Series episode before sleeping in bed on my DS - not everybody chooses to have a TV in his bedroom. If you know how to encode the quality will be perfectly fine, too, and even better with the new Moonshell.

Moonshell is not overrated at all. It has enough to be thought of that highly in terms of DS homebrew. If there were other media players (excluding Sakura) with the same functionality but slightly better then you could say Moonshell is overrated but since there isn't really any better media players, it isn't. Besides, plenty of people, as others have stated, do use Moonshell quite often. I personally don't use it for anything other than DPG playback but it does fulfill my needs.

If you want a homebrew that really is overrated, take a look at DSOrganize. I'm not sure if you've seen my poll in this same forum asking whether people actually use it or not but if you do actually go check it out, the majority of people don't use it even if it is one of the most recommended homebrew.

well..to find an answer for your questions let me rephrase them ..

why watching movies on your computer/tv instead on your DS ?
why listen music on mp3player/ipod/computer and not on your DS?

(I'm not a fanboy and i know the quality sucks)

I guess ppl do that because they want their movies to be portable..
And since you can play with your DS too you have 3 in 1 : TV, Games and Music...
Don't tell me that you take your computer everywhere you go ...

Don't tell me that you take your computer everywhere you go ...

1) 32" screen, better framerate, better audio quality, no desync
2) Better GUI, more features, better audio quality. Smaller than a DS (Except for the computer, that is).
3) It's called a laptop, and yes. Yes I do.

I think it's a decent media player.

also

1. Tvs and PCs aren't as portable as the DS.

2. Not everyone has ipods or other media players.

Errmmm nicely put and i couldn't agree less. I had an ipod nano and it broke, its a useless piece of junk, id rather listen to my mp3's on DS any day.

A DS with any flashcard has

a. Games
b. WIFI
C. Multimedia
d. Its portable

What else could you ask for ?
