I was testing what file formats MoonShell could play on, so I dumped a few MIDI files from Tyrian 2000 and it played beautifully. It really brought back good memories of strafing through enemy fire and blasting your sidekicks away.

Then I realised that MoonShell mentioned:

"This sound font is very compact. Install full sound font from website..."

Got a look around and found there were two versions, the 8-bit version (the compact one) and the 16-bit version. What would be the differences between them? Wider range of instruments, and better sound quality?

Also, at sections where there's many instruments being played at the same time, the DS stutters. Not sure if this is the same for the 8-bit.

MIDI is like sheet music, so it's up to Moonshell to provide sound samples to play back when it reads the MIDI file. The 16 bit version simply means that the samples are higher quality and thus larger in size. If you can stand the extra space needed, go with the 16 bit version.

The worst is when its a dry poop, then you spend 20 minutes and ha!f a roll of TP wiping. Its like wiping TP over a magic marker, just won't stop showing.
