Thats interesting. Have you (or know anybody else) that has successfully got anywhere with translating TvC? ...I'm sure that if monster hunter can be done then TvC would be a breeze (well at least the opening menu anyway)?

Nope it isn´t so easy tatsunoko seems to use fpk files with everything packed in it and at the moment there is no way to unpack them (at least i don´t know any tool haven´t looked for it a long time and i tried many programms) even then it´s still possible that they are packed again.
Anyway i´m pretty sure that the text in this game are graphics.

Ah thats a shame. Thanks for the heads up... saves me having a go at it now. lol If the menu is graphics I wonder if there is a way to replace the images? ...I guess it would still have to be unpacked and then its probably saved in some weird obscure format anyway.

Seriously I think all that is neccesary are item names and quest objectives. All that other dialogue shit is worthless. Anyway you've got me all excited. I'm coping with the Japanese for now.

they are compressed in external files on the disc.

all what i translate will be inside the main.dol

the final patch will be in 2 forms:
1. IPS Patch -> for directly patching main.dol
2. GPF Patch -> for the original dvd, a Gecko Memory Patch ^^

found this one yesterday it works on naruto fpk files http://www.mediafire.com/?nyg30nzyn2y
inside the fpk you will find brres files the biggest issue is finding the packers

its also worth looking in the games for the required tools i found this also whilst browsing

This doesnt help since Chinese uses Monospace characters too.
This makes it much easier for them to translate a game it was the same for Dissidia.
