OK after a bit of assing around I think i've got the hang of this and all seams loaded up. I fixed my upside down homebrew channel by uninstalling it and loading it back up, sorted.
I have loaded up Waninkokos cIOS (249 and 250)
Hermes cIOS (202, 222 and 223)
and have neogamma on my sd card. All i need to know now is what software i need to make the backups on my computer?

if u want to rip an original game, u need to use your wii to do it (u can only use your computer to rip retail games if u have specific and rare LG dvd drives). If you have a hard drive, use a usb loader to rip the games to the drive (and if u still prefer playing games off of disk instead of usb, u can always burn them from your hard drive using a program like IMGBURN or Nero.

if u dont have a hard drive, u can rip the game to your sd card and directly to your PC via your network using SuperDump (its MUCH MUCH slower though, so be warned!)

cheers mate, i'm currently dumping a game using wii dvd dumper cios 1.2 you weren't kidding about the slowness where you! I am assuming that most people will have a usb hard drive for keeping there backup games on and don't bother burning them to discs, just play them straight through the usb. what is a good site to download games from via internet?

that would be assuming i am i pirate, which i will neither confirm nor deny

but more importantly, gbatemp restricts posting links to sites that offer pirated material

edit: y r u user dvd dumper? super dump is faster than dvd dumper (although not by much, and usb loader's are still faster)

thanks for your help xflak. I do have an external usb hdd but it never seems to want to work. I have a couple of ipods nocking about could i use one of these for keeping my backup games on?

Either dvd drive board or whole drive both work I think but whole drive is a lot less work I think

I think if you follow this then format it using wbfs manager it will work

pick a solution, #1 is most recommended and #4 is least recommended (in my opinion). But they all should accomplish what u want

1) u could always make the transition to usb loaders

2) or u can just use neogamma (auto-mod in my signature) and cios249 rev17, then u can play anything

3) installing cioscorp should also solve the error and allow u to play via the disk channel. Yes u can install it after having updated the wii.

4) if u have a nand backup from 4.1e, u can revert to that now. If u don't and u really want to get back on 4.1, u can follow the instructions here: NUS AUTO DOWNLOADER

no prob, and I already knew about allocating more space to data on an iPod, but that's not why i doubt it will work. USB loaders have compatibility issues with less common hard drives (i stick to western digital and I've never had a problem)... so iPod's are not a sure thing, but I would be curious to see if it would work

also, i would use wii backup manager (run as administrator), and try formatting it FAT32, WBFS and NTFS to see if any of those formats work (after allocating all the ipod's memory to data as instructed in the youtube video above)

quick question i partitioned my ex hdd into 2 both about 60gb one is formatted with wbfs and the other as ntfs ive put music on the ntfs one inside a folder called music but when i load mplayer it shows the folder but nothing inside what is wrong?

could be incompatable drive... try accessing that partition to watch video's via mplayer and see if that works... this just happened to me yesterday actually, mplayer wouldn't read my shitty HD, so i copied the video i wanted to watch to my western digital my passport and it worked fine (its formatted as fat32 btw, but that shouldn't matter)

u have ios 202 installed right?

i'm not able to get startpatch to work. when i try to run it in hbc it comes up with an error 101, any ideas?
I'm assuming I'll need this so my wii doesn't do any unwanted updates..

its probably an incompatible hard drive, try a couple other hard drives to see if they work... if one of them works then its got to be a compatibility issue

try using the other usb port

try using the mplayer_ce v0.76 if your not already (and/or u can try using mplayer forwarder fix, just replace the mplayer_ce v0.76 boot.dol with the .dol HERE, be sure to rename it boot.dol)

u can try a different video format, it could be the video format doesn't work with mplayer_ce (for example, i think mkv's dont work)

i think i'm out of ideas, lol, good luck!
