yes you can update it.
use waninkoko's 4.1 updater.
you might have to reinstall cioscorp but as long as your overwriting you IOS's and not uninstalling them, your safe from a brick.

dumb question for NEWBEE. Excellent Guide BTW

1) I tired the Ultimate 4.0 update (offline) way to no avail. Do I need do anything before I give this method a try (offline). Uninstall...
2) I also have a wiikey installed do I need to install CIOSCORP WADs, if I want to have the ability to play my backups via the disc channel?
3) I have preloader already install do I need to uninstall that if so how would I do that?

1] check out whats required for the offline section in the guide.
2] wiikey should automatically give you the ability to play my backups via the disc channel, so dont even touch cioscorp.
3] If you update, you have to reinstall preloader.

i recommend you follow the guide from beginning to end, and you'll end up fine

Thanks again for the great and easy guide. I was successful and did not install cioscorp and backup's are working. Now next step is to get USB loader working and I will be set. Thanks again. I did have one quick question. Do you see any harm in enabling the wireless connection. I tired t enable it and asked me to update to 42xx I canceled and disabled the wireless. I also tried to get the weather channel to work but it did not. How do I install the new channels for 4.1 like the photo channel and etc...

Thanks.

when you configure a wireless connection, it will always ask you to update, simply press no and your fine.
as for the weather and news channel, go to settings as agree to wiiconnect24 and make sure its on.

thanks again, I do not really need and I have heard about people not enabling wiiconnect. BTW any information on the photo channel?

you dont have to connect wiiconnect24, it totally optional but neccessary if you want to use the weather and news channels.
use waninkoko's 4.1 updater and it should get you the latest channels

i followed your instruction on the first page but after i did the update to 4.1 and try to start HBC, all i get is a black screen and i didnt install the preloaded yet cuz it is the last step.

never mind, just went and re-installed the HBC and it works fine now.

this guide was very helpful. Thanks

Been following the offline guide. Got up to the part where I'm suppose to Run Trucha Bug Restorer. But every time I click on the Homebrew channel. The channel load for a few seconds and nothing happen and then it auto boot back to the Wii menu. What am I doing wrong

My Wii is 3.1E.

if your on 3.1 try skipping the trucha bug restorer part, you already have it in effect.
