Yes, you can use the guide, you can skip installing hbc and bootmii (although it wouldn't be a bad idea to make a backup before you do this...)

Just download the up42e.zip pack, once you load MMM as it says, go down to Load another IOS and select IOS 249 ... It should now say something really close to: Load another IOS - (current IOS249 v19)... Then,

*Really important stuff here! Do not skip or alter steps in any way!*
While on the main menu, press right to go to WAD manager then press 1.
You should see IOS70-64-v6687.wad and System Menu-NUS-v48x.wad (NTSC-J = 480; NTSC = 481; PAL = 482).
Press A to install. Then press any button when finished.
Now go down to Other and press A. Then press 1.
It should say Selected 23 for installation.. press A to install.
*End.*
You can then erase everything from the up42.zip & setup everything from the 42mod.zip
Advance to the Modify 4.2 section to reinstall the Homebrew Channel so it can run under the correct IOS.

You shouldn't have any problems... You will need to do the Modify 4.2 section obviously... If you run into any issues, let us know...

The issue is that Multi-Mod Manager won't load.... error code and crash.
Can I use some other WAD loader?

I can't really do a backup first as bootmi from my curretn HBC version is not working... black screen.

Ok... I am remodding my 4.2u Wii. I used zxzeros old guide (for 249 mod) And am now using his new mod. My problem, which i have always had, is that on occassion when in homebrew or usbloadergx, sometimes, i have no cursor. Now this is not a severe problem for me, but i am wondering why this could be. Any help is appreciated

Just follow Restoring the Trucha Bug, Removing Stub IOS's, Installing cIOS & Patching the System Menu IOS in the Modify 4.3 section.

I have 4.1u hacked with homebrew channel and I played some dumb new game now loading homebrew from DVD doesn't work. Is there an easy way for me to update and make sure I have all the latest hacks and system menu without messing everything up? I have installed so many IOS and stuff that my poor wii is a wreck.

(Use NUS right? I been researching.)

i tried using the fix file instead but now there is no bannerbomb....

Are you using the bannerbomb from the modify 4.2 pack or the update to 4.2 pack?

If it's the one from the modify pack then try using a different variation or bannerbomb v2.

Just go to the bannerbomb
Page and find it.

Thanks for a great guide.

Successfully modded a brand new 4.2E wii following these instructions. All good except the Priiloader instrcution shich were a bit confusing (the B and + thingy).

Now a couple of questions:

1. I want to install WiiMC + Channel; Do I need IOS58 (or is it already there with hbc 1.0.8)?
2. What is the best Wad manager? YAWMM?
3. Is it safe to install USB loader GX and the forwarder (using the official install package)?


Again - well done to everyone involved. The modding was scary but easy....

(BTW - I DID brick a 3.2U using this guide....turn out to be a Korean wii turned into 3.2U - got the Error003 message from hell...maybe a warning on this would be good!!)

I get an error in fix pack when doing express install and patch ios36, it looks for ios v523 which isnt in zip, only v257 is
Also i get no bannerbomb at all from fixpack, no freeze nothing just a blank sd menu

there's a beta floating around for a PAL exploit on the YuGiOh game that u may be able to use instead, but other than that, ur only option is lego indiana jones (unless ur wii was hacked in the past and u still have a forwarder channel installed)

u can reinstall the HBC if u have access to any of the following games (assuming your wii is USA region), Smash Bros Brawl, Lego Indiana Jones, Yu-Gi-Oh

u can reinstall the HBC without the above games if u have any of the following left over from a prior soft mod
-Bootmii @ Boot2
-A Forwarder Channel
-priiloader (doubtful, since this woulda been removed during update)

1. You will most likely need IOS58, you can download the up42 and get it from there, you can use MMM to download and install it (via the ios manager), you can use NUSAD to download it, or you can use tantric's IOS58 installer).
2. Not yammm, as it isn't based on 1.7 and gives errors at times. I personally use MMM to install wads.

Now the problem with Korean Wii was that I did not know that it was one...and the guide in this post did not provide a warning. That was my point..I realise the Complete Guide has the warning...

IOS58 worked fine
WiiMC and Forwarder/Channel working fine
USB Loader GX working from HBC but Wad Manager in MMC refuses to install USB Loader GX forwarder/channel.

Should I try Wad Manager 1.7 instead?

Love this tutorial, everything worked up until installing Priiloader

Whenever I try and do an installation I get the following error message:

ES_Identity Failed, error 4294966279. ios37 not patched with ES_DIVerify? using cios (holding b and them pressing + or - ) will probably solve this.
Do you wish to continue?

So I try and do the the b and + option and it says that the cios is not patched, even though I'm using Waninkoko's latest version (and I'm assuming it's patched.)

I've tried to use Pimp My Wii to update the IOS's and that hasn't helped either

Can someone please assist me?
