Hey guys. I recently installed xeno gc chip (I gave it to a guy that specialises in circuit soldering because I'm not good at it). It looks like it's done well but the chip doesn't do anything. No LEDs lighting up, no screen by holding start, no burned discs reading (can't test original game for other region as I don't have any).

Normal pal discs still work. Everything works just like the chip isn't there

Adding a picture of how it looks, maybe it will help

Sure it's flashed with data?

I... think so? You mean I could have bought an "empty" chip? I bought it from ebay for 9 eur from european seller and it only had a solder guide in it so I hope it's flashed

wireless installs are the worst install anyone can ever do.
it's not professional. it's like blindly solder anything! you can't see or check solder points!
it's like dumping solder over the hole and pray it make contact with the correct point and nothing more!
also you will find it very difficult to remove the chip if anything goes wrong... you will kill some spots on the board removing the chip.

Hmm, well, thanks for the info guys. I have multimeter but at work so I will only check it on monday.

I hope I can still make it work :/
The console is still fully working which is a good sign but yea...

I assumed the guy knew what he was doing but we'll see if someone manages to resolder it somehow :/

No lights, at least I'm not seeing any trying to look from all sides

Edit: aside from the one on controller port thingy that you would see through the top of the shell but that's irrelevant

Edit 2: I can TRY making photos of it powered on without shell but I doubt anyone can see anything in a photo

Okay, I have the multimeter (I don't know what exactly I'm supposed to test with it though :D )

And @toxic9, I appreciate the offer but I think I'll pass. It's too much work shipping the console back and forth just for this :/

Hello.:)

EDIT Sorry,I see you need to TEST your MODCHIP Installation ?

Please ignore my Post below for the Moment.:)

Please look a this Picture (it is the underside of the DVD Drive where you soldered the Modchip). The two Points for Test are marked. With the Screw you can adjust the Laser for better Reading on Backup DVD´s.If you do this PLEASE very slow and tiny adjustements:

gc_pot_tweaking.jpg

The VALUE is a RECOMMENDATION - NO WARRANTY that this Value works also on YOUR Gamecube. You have to find it for yourself for YOUR Gamecube Drive in Combination with your Backup DVDs.:)

Please make slow and tiny Adjustments (and MARK the Position where you START please !!) and try it after every Change.

Good Luck.
Thank you.:)

Adjust for better disc reading? Uhh, I think you're misunderstanding my problem. (Or I'm misunderstanding something)
The chip doesn't do anything, not even when holding start. How is that related to disc reading?

Well, I think I'm buying another chip and remove this one. It could be bad soldering, but the fact that it's not even shorting out the console makes me think the chip is fried. I'll let you all know how it goes in like a month since that's probably how long I will have to wait for another chip lol
