Just a quick "announcement" : I've setup a paypal donation button on my website.
Now please don't get upset and read this : <b>the game is still and WILL ALWAYS BE FREE</b>. I'm not doing any of this for profit, and I'm not begging for money or anything. I only put this in place in case some people feel they have some excess cash and wouldn't mind helping me. I'm a student and I have no source of income; coding this stuff takes time so I hope you understand. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Thanks to anyone who'll consider donating a little something. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

If it haves a main menu, it could be like this.

Also, if it haves a main menu, you can put the aleatory message under the name? It's hard?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Of course it'll have a main menu. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

And yeah, I'll try to have it look as close to the original's menu as possible, but keep in mind I can't use the "Minecraft" name or the game's textures !

If not, then why not make a 2D representation of the character on a random backdrop and all armor items appear on top of that, and allow for a custom image to be placed within the same borders?
2)Yeah, especially with the larger builds, too, that might not be too great for frame rate...
3) Alright.
4) That's fine, but would you consider polling the players about a handful of mods for normal Minecraft, and whichever is picked the most gets added into the game (depending on if you can get permission or not)? I don't mean big stuff like the Aether mod... But simple stuff like the baby animals mod or the keyblade mod or the builders mod. If that's even considered simple.
...Oooh ooh I forgot a question on my last post. Will you be removing Herobrine soon?<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
1) Well considering there is no multiplayer at the moment (and there is no hand model), player skins would be pretty useless. I really can't tell you if there ever will be any as I don't know myself. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> As for the bottom screen, putting armor icons over the character would be easy, but I can't tell you when/if I'll do it. (again, I don't know)
4) Might consider doing that once the game is actually playable. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> So yeah, maybe, but not before quite some time. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

5) Of course, I did that like two weeks ago <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

As for multiplayer, would it be DS-Wireless too? I don't have Wi-fi and my little sister loves Mine, eh, DSCraft. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

I suppose it would be possible, but talking about such things at this point would be pretty irresponsible of me considering I don't actually *know* what I will/won't be able to do on the multiplayer front. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

My posts tend to get a bit wall-of-textish, sorry for that.
Wouldn't it be simpler to put the world view on the bottom screen, and allow camera rotation by sliding the stylus? That way you could use the D-Pad for movement (and strafe wouldn't be necessary since you control the camera separately), L/R for sneak/jump (since those are the two things you need when moving, the shoulder buttons would be perfect) and you could use the Picross 3D control scheme for adding/removing blocks (e.g. hold B and touch a block to remove it, and hold A and touch a block to place it; B and A are commonly associated with cancel and confirm respectively). Since you're already using your left hand for camera control the A and B buttons are easily reached. X could be used as the menu button (to swap screens) and Y for whatever. The reason sneak would be L and not R is because you normally use sneak for building, and holding the stylus, A/B and R at the same time is pretty hard. You could also easily swap this entire control set for left-handed people.
Slide touch screen: move camera
Up/Down: move forwards/backwards
Left/Right: strafe left/right
L: sneak
R: jump
Hold A and touch: place block
Hold B and touch: remove block
X: swap screens (to access the menu)
Y: ? (pause menu?)
The main benefits of using the touch screen for camera control are that you can at the same time move the player and camera, plus it feels more natural if you've played the PC version. If you combine it with the Picross 3D control scheme you could place/remove blocks while moving, which is important for building large structures, and aiming becomes a lot easier since you wouldn't need to place the crosshair on the target block first. Also, you won't have to resort to funky button combinations for other important features. It's a tight control scheme, but I think it would work.
So far what you've shown us looks awesome, and being able to use standard terrain.png files sounds amazing. Good luck!<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
Not sure having the world view on the bottom screen is the best idea as the stylus would block out the view. (which is why most/all FPSs on the DS have the 3D view on the top screen) Also, think about it, pressing A/B while also using the D-PAD to move around AND the stylus to choose blocks ? Doesn't sound to comfortable to me, but then that might just be because I only have two hands. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Anyway, I'll take it under consideration. I can understand if some people want to have the 3D view on the bottom screen, and I could easily make Select swap the screens. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd-->
It's true that right now I'm only working on getting classic to work, but I haven't ruled out the possibility of making a limited version of Survival in the future. Eeeeh, not really. I mean, I did work on it but I don't have much to show for it. Main thing I did was fix an annoying glitch that would make part of the world flicker when the map was streaming. That bug is no more and playing the game is much nicer now as a result. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

A part from that I fixed some stuff which will help debug more efficiently, but nothing too interesting from a player perspective I guess heh.

Thanks Bmcs, yes, I did already fix that. It was a stupid mistake (basically I'd forgotten to change one line of code when I made my new rendering system four weeks ago, and that caused a massive memory leak... but as I said, the leak has been plugged since then so there is no random crashing anymore <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="
