I've set all of the renderers to off, I've set them to on, I've turned off particles and clouds and turned them on, I've changed my render distance, I've changed from fast FPS to power saver to balanced, I've changed ALL the settings and I either get so much lag I get around 5 FPS or I get a framerate that randomly dips every time something's rendered. I only get a good, constant framerate when I'm not moving or looking around in-game.

I may not be able to get good framerates in, say Amnesia or Morrowind, but I had no idea I wouldn't be able to get good framerates in a game that has less pixels than Centipede 3D.

Wait for it to be updated for 1.0.
Oooh, this looks promising, however difficult to set up it may be.
It's very easy, if you've ever installed a mod before it's the standard stick-the-files-in process.
I've installed mods before, but I just meant after you install it, there's the set up to find the perfect combination of options that gives you the most FPS.

as i say am not a fan of the game terraria i play it i dint like it it felt lazy to me but the dint pull the stunt minecraft did just now
What "stunt" is this?

Classic - Indev - Infdev - Alpha - Beta - Release

If label changes scare you, get off the computer. I was using firefox when it was in... GASP, "BETA"! And then it changed and WAS NO LONGER IN BETA!

The horror!

I mean yeah it keept updating, but still...

you pay for firefox ?

Where did the idea that future features will be pay-only come from?

I've installed mods before, but I just meant after you install it, there's the set up to find the perfect combination of options that gives you the most FPS.
In many cases simply having the mod installed gives a nice boost (as it replaces some of the graphical functions in the game with faster versions from what I've read). That said, most of the options are self-explanatory, though many only have a minor impact alone.

Now you can pay for a game you could already pay for... sweet?
Not sure what you're trying to say here.
Were you implying you have to pay for Minecraft again?
Or was it just something I'm missing for being dumb?

I'm saying that they are making a celebration of the fact that a game already being sold can... now be sold (as "complete", but seeing that they are going to continue to update it... it really isn't more complete than it was before).

It's a bit redundant.

They added an ending to the game in 1.0 (well, technically they added it in the 1.9 prereleases, but still). It's possible to beat Minecraft now, and it wasn't before. Plus they added a plethora of bugfixes and optimizations, because the beta was kinda buggy and laggy (because it's a beta).

That is completely irrelevant. You pay for minecraft once and then don't have to again. It doesn't matter how many times it is updated - you have purchased minecraft, and have the right to every version ever released. You are clearly a bit of an idiot, so I'll make this simple for you: No one is forcing you to play minecraft. No one is forcing you to read this thread. No one is forcing you to post here. Kindly stop spamming this thread with your nonsense, the majority of people reading this thread enjoy minecraft, your trolling isn't going to change that.

So it's just another update, basically. The only difference between this update and the last ones is... well, I guess Notch just really wanted to throw a party this time.

I wouldn't recommend listening to Valwin's posts in this thread. He is trolling us all, rather successfully, and I strongly suggest doing the following:

Now to return to the topic at hand:
Does anyone else think that NPCs will never be useful?

It wasn't supposed to be a big update though. It was just a confirmation that the game was ready to "go gold". What game have you played where the beta (not alpha, not concept) was so drastically different than the full version?

When the entire game is a beta, the distinction becomes a lot more arbitrary.

The fact that it's hit an official 1.0 isn't really that big, the only thing it changes is that it's officially "up for review".

The major draws of 1.0 are actually all the new things it brings. It's one hell of an update.

Now to return to the topic at hand:
Does anyone else think that NPCs will never be useful?
It was mentioned that some original ideas were that they had things and while you could kill them and take the things they'd get mad, instead trading with them or completing quests would make them give you the things.

Pretty vague, but it's an idea of why they were made.

What game have you played where the beta (not alpha, not concept) was so drastically different than the full version?
As somebody else once said, the game was beta in name only, it was still technically an alpha version.

The 1.0 release meant nothing new to the people (like me) that kept up with the 1.9 prereleases [1-6] up until RC2.

I'm not even sure if the new music discs are legitimately obtainable in-game yet.

So when 1.0 came out, I was all like "Ehhh, just doing what I've been doing for the past month".

I don't even think anymore additional bug fixing was done either.
