Hacking microsd reader

ok. so it sounds like my m3 real's included card reader died, thus bricking my sdhc card. i sent the card back to newegg since it was still (barely) under warranty.

what is a good (preferably cheap) microsdhc usb card reader?

the microsd=>sd converter thing that came with the card will only get like 1MB/s as opposed to the 20MB/s i got with the reader i got with my real. i find this way too slow =)

is heat really an issue though? as long as you can touch the card without being burned, the card should be fine, right?

BTW, my reader that came with my m3 made the card a bit warm.

All microsd readers are the same generic stuff, jsut get one off ebay for like £1/$2. I got one for tht price and works fine

untill it dies 2 weeks later, killing the microSD.

Lol it works fine, the card readers that come in flash cart packages are just as cheap. Just use the sd adapter if u r concerned that its gonna die on you.

The only problem with the mobilemate that came with my 8GB, 4MB/s sandisk card is that the card got stuck in the reader and it took me a while to get it back out. Now, I use the mobilemate with my 2gb (it comes off with minimal effort) and I use my 8gb with a generic PNY reader that I got with my 2gb.

I've gotta say that since the mobilemate is plastic so it doesn't heat up as much as the generic PNY, which is mostly metal. The transfer speeds are the same.

I would either recommend the mobilemate or the pny.

have to agree the mobilemate sd+ is the best i have used so far, dont buy a integral multicard reader as i did (from currys) it corrupted my sandisk 4gb sdhc.
no problems with + though

no, you dont have to pay shipping if you go to the store. i got the better model anyway, not just the microsd only one.
