Hacking MicroSD file recovery program?

My brothers friend came to me with a problem yesterday, he showed me his R4 when it loads up and it says "SD/TF card error" . I took the R4 because I simply thought he needed to take the games off and format the SD card. Well, I guess its corrupt and it won't even let me into the SD card unless I format it. Is there a file recovery program that I can use on it after I format it or not?

I had a similar problem, what solved it for me was actually using a different card reader, i used to have really cheap usb readers, but i changed to an internal one, wich is more reliable and it might just read your card. (unless you already are using a decent card reader)

He is using the cheap one that came with the R4, I am using a pretty good one. I'm the one that sold him that R4 though and I never got that problem so I don't know.

I'm guessing the guy doesn't have any backups from his save files, well, if reformatting make sure to use panasonic formatter. I might just have 1 idea left for you: put the microsd card in a sd adapter, put it on lock and then try to acces it...

Alright, I'll try that last idea. If that doesn't work I guess I just gotta reformat it.

New card and lose that POS card reader because they're very flaky in terms of dependability.

I agree on both, but he isn't much of a gamer and mostly plays old DS games, and I should get him a new microSD reader but I ain't got no monies.

What's lost is lost; don't look back, just look toward the future. Unfortunately that's one big downfall of flash-based memory. At least with normal spinning hard drives, when the unit goes back it's usually because of some sort of mechanical defect and files can be recovered in another way. Flash-based memory, on the other hand, can die and take everything along with it because nothing is saved in physical storage--like etches on a platter. This is why it is so important to do regular backups.

If you're really desperate though, you can try F-Recovery or SD Card Recovery. They're made for "accidental deleting" incidents though, not card corruption.
