For anyone having success with my method, i'd recommend regular backups, especially before downloading any new DLC each month.

I ran through code all last night to make this fix, so gonna need to catch up on a bit of sleep, so maybe in a few days i'll see if I can maybe fix the challenge quest issue as well.

Everything is working fine on the save, just had to delete the USJ and Gon gear that i used on some transmogs, everytime i was loading a mix set with them, the game crashed

Now gonna download all the event stuff, except the challengue quests, edit via HxD, restore, to see if the save work.

Is there a way to change the name on your guild card? When I transferred my character to XX i Katakana-ized it and now it's stuck as ???? on the character screen and when looking at my past hunts.

You could try retyping it on the MHXX save Editor on an english keyboard.

Not sure if it'll work, but worth a shot.

Just tried that on a backup save, doesn't work.

You could try doing a search for your character's name in HxD, or failing that search for the exact number of ???? that are in it's place and change it with hex editing.

So I changed my actual character name. In game my name is correct, even on the guild card itself, but on the loading screen and in my "past hunts" section it has the name that is on the greyed out "guild card" section of the editor.

It might end up being just one of those things where it has changed in multiple instances, so you'd have to change every instance of it in hex as well.

Nevermind, I managed to get my MHXX save imported to my switch.

I manually hex edited with HxD.

I created a fresh MHXX 3ds save and opened it up in HxD.

I worked out the dlc values roughly, then in HxD I went to select edit, select block, and set Start-offset: to 0 and End-offset: to 109874.

I copied that from the fresh save then opened up my MHXX 3ds save I wanted to transfer in HxD and overwrite those values.

I then saved the new merged MHXX 3ds save and used your MHGUSaveEditor the way you said to, load up my MHXX save and convert to MHGU by using a fresh switch save.

When I booted up my switch MHGU i was welcomed by a corrupted save message, but it said it would try and fix it.

I let it go and eventually pressed A to continue, and surprisingly enough my save game has transfered with everything except my DLC quests.

I tried this but still get a black screen

Itams , armors and weapons and the same from all plaicos and all my sets and all event and challenger quest
and deleted all the japanese text from the palico and shoutouts
(i have only equipped one beginning weapon and the same on palico )
but after i restore my save on Checkpoint and start the game i get all time a message The software was closed because an error occurred.
i dont no what i can make to play my old save on mhgu ps i have Eu mhgu

Do you have any hacked items like charms etc. on the save you're trying to convert that are not within the standard in game possibilites?

Maybe they can crash the game as well.

Also when your finished replacing what you need to in HxD, are you picking "save as..." and creating a new System file?

For some reason if you save it any other way your changes in hex don't stay.

What is the name of the .exe file you downloaded?

It should be "MHGUSaveEditor.exe".

If it is "MHXXSaveEditor.exe" you've downloaded the wrong one.

The one you need is a little bit down the first post on page 1 in attached files.

Those cant be complete saves. Mine are over 5 MB and are both the same size. Your export was either incomplete or corrupted.

Yeah, should be 5,039 KB, try re-importing from switch with JKSV or Checkpoint and make sure it's 5,039 KB.

how would i go about just save editing from the switch. i have gu on the switch(dont have 3ds or mhxx or any other game). do i need homebrew?

There was a problem w/ your Pallico.
I deleted it and it worked fine.

Found out that dlc palicos need to be removed, the thing is that didnt give me save corruption it worked as intented thank you !!!
