Hey so this is my first time using Medicat and I am having trouble booting to the mini windows 10 environment. I can boot to the other options such as jayro's lockipic and acronis no problem. I have followed the instructions using ventoy and even used the medicat installer, but can't seem to enter the mini windows 10 environment. It just keeps on loading until I get a bluescreen error "driver pnp watchdog". Any help?

Edit: Changed BSOD error "dpc watchdog violation" to "driver pnp watchdog". I also used the file checker that came with the installer and all files were ok.

The instruction on the first page that you were referring to, would work, but the instruction on the downloaded file which is below didn't work :

##########################################################################
# Disable your anti-virus' "Real-Time Scanning" option before you begin! #
##########################################################################
Open the MediCat_Installer.exe, and follow the interactive on-screen prompts to make your MediCat USB stick.

Hi Jayro! I tried medicat 21.12 which is really an excellent tool! Congratulations to you, it's very complete! However, I have a problem with the wifi internet connection for the mini windows 10! the connection from an iphone does not work. Is it because of the security key in wpa3? Maybe you have an idea ^^

Hi everyone. It's good I found the Medica wi-fi connection problem this product good only when you want to connect with an Apple iOS smartphone. It works very well with Android and connection sharing. Shame

Hi,

there isn't an ISO version of medicat anymore?
Only the usb one using ventoy?

I ask because that means I would have to dedicate an usb stick to this, otherwise each time I plug the stick on a windows, scans will detect some tools as malwares...
Using the ISO version prevented that and I could still use my ventoy stick for other things too...

Hi, I have this issue.
I installed MediCat via installer and i have a problem, because when i boot up any backupper software like aomei f.e., it doesn't see the data partition. I only see the "X:Boot" partition while in software UI therefore i cannot create any system image backup nor can i restore images.
I installed Cat on a removable USB - USB<->type C drive 256 GB SSD and tried many things:
- Creating new partitions next to MediCat and VTOYEFI partition in NTFS and exFAT fs.
- Reinstalling Cat and changing file system from exFAT to NTFS and backwards.
- Converting ventoy partition from MBR to GPT and Backwards.
Always only "X:" partition visible.
Any ideas? Or maybe i am doing something wrong here?

Hi Jayro,

Are there any plans to update MediCat USB in the near future?

FAQ:
"How often will this be updated?"
MediCat USB is now a rolling release, so will be regularly updated with major releases, and minor updates as needed (Typically monthly or bi-monthly).

ISO is just an archiving file format. You can easily create an ISO of the provided files.

Well yes and no....

Medicat relies heavily on Ventoy now, so "easily create an iso" with all the menu does seem tricky (older iso relied on grub for the menu I think?).

And I already have a ventoyusb stick with my own menus / structure, but adding "medicat" to it means either replacing all my settings by Medicat ones and adding mine again in the Medicat files (meaning no medicat update with drag and drop for me or I'll loose all my modifications) or creating another dedicated usb stick...

Also I don't think ventoy can chain load another ventoy instance (meaning "my" ventoy menu would allow me to load "medicat" ventoy menu from a dedicated Medicat directory).

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Maybe.
  • Veho @ Veho:
There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
