Hardware Max sd card size?

is a micro-sd card with an adapter the same as a regular sd-card?

If you can use the original SD card then stick with the regular SD card size, if you have a model that only use micro SD then you stick with micro SD, you can put micro SD with adapter on original model, but not regular SD on N3DS, N3DS XL etc.

yeah yeah I know that, I was just wondering if there was any difference since somehow a 128gb 3u micro-sd card is cheaper than a regular-sized one...

It is the same, no major difference just a micro sd with an adapter. Just that if you have a unit that only use micro SD then you can't fit a regular size SD in there.

I think I remember that. it seems to act like it's another account essentially, since it uses a different Nintendo 3DS folder. I agree with @Hayato213 , there really aren't enough good games on the 3ds to warrant over 300 titles tbh.

I'm curious as to why 256 is max and not 512 or 1 tb as both can be formatted mbr and fat 32?

Has to do with 3ds game title size, and the 300 title limit if you don't use the 3DS bank thing, 512 and above is kinda waste if you don't use all that space true that you can format 512GB/1TB into FAT32 format, Im not even sure if the 3DS would accept 1TB.

Size matters, machines can make more of a smaller device more quickly and there's less material costs. And MicroSD is way more common these days as well, manufacturing and selling in bulk results in lower prices.

lmao!!!! how many games if any at all are you planning on using? If any 3ds games, Most are easily around 1gb and requires 2gb to install and then down to 1gb to keep going afterwards

I actually meant terabyte micro sd card not gigabyte silly me. The camera I was using for it initially broke so now I have a $200 dollar micro that I might as well be using for something. It seems to be doing fine so far, even faster than my old 64 gb one.

Ah yes. a 1TB card should do wonders for what ya want to use. I got a 256gb slapped into my 3ds, its quite nice.

Don't forget the 300 folder/item/icon/badge limit
Pretty much nintendo 3ds bank cia help in that matter. That cia split two homemenu (slot 1 and slot 2) with two slots have 600 titles, surpassing the 300 limit.

Edit:To the one above of the op post mentioned godmode9 script to surpass 300 limit, forget the script.Only use nintendo 3ds bank its more easy. For noobs run the cia with the empty microsd and install&play your favorite games without worry.
