Nah, I like to throw whatever shit I have at others.

Kinda explains why you go from 1st to 7th.
I just keep the items by holding ZL and release them as I go to another mystery box.

I've been playing MK8 online with Rosalina on a bike and it's been quite lovely, although I hate getting hit by items because I go from 1st place to 7th place. This game relies on luck more so than skill.

Its graphics look very pretty too:

In Mario 3D World I'd always play as Rosalina once I had her unlocked.

Just wanted to say, I know its a bit late now since MK 8 has been out a few weeks but the power sliding technique is absolutely been got down to a T in this MK version so way better than the rest of the Mario Karts, you can really pull of now a phat power slide round a big corner or a bend in this one for ages and bamm, of you go, supercharged! Wicked in my opinion

What character/kart formation do you guys use?

Im trying to figure out a good setup for my Toad. So far iv worked out that 3 bar Accel is enough to get a decent recovery after item hits and stack as much speed as possible after that since by default Toad usually has decent drifting. My setup is: Circuit special / Retro off-road / Cloudglider.

It was like 22:00 PM and now it's 02:50 AM... Mario Kart 8 online really makes me lose sense of time.

I tried out the "No Items Tournament" and damn that was pretty boring, you're either really accurate to stay on top or you'll fall to the bottom ranks.

Pretty damn addictive game online, I'm guessing Super Smash Bros. 4 is going to be even more!

I realised today (4am-ish) that that Boat-car with the blue/red tiny wheels goes super fast so that'll be what I'll be using from now on.

Still, it doesn't mean I won't get hit with items but better faster than slower.

And in Mario Kart 8, it's always pressing A so never slowdown! Unless it's Rainbow Road..

Yeah, most of the time once I've stuck to perfecting my timing + drifting I don't need to press B to slowdown at all but it's still hilarious to see others fall of the track. lol

When I played at someone else's house I used Bowser on Mr. Scootie with absolutely tiny wheels. It looks fucking ridiculous but it works pretty well.

MK 8 seems all about power sliding and you can do it perfect power slide into a right bend and then back into a left bend and boost off. The Power Sliding technique I think is a lot easier then other MK's. It seems they have made it more user friendly this time around.

you'll find out very quickly that speed isn't the key to winning in this. if you pick stuff with just great speed it usually has fuck all handling and acceleration. meaning you won't be able to drift good and when you do get hit it takes ages to get back up to top speed.

you'll want to pick a vehicle and parts that give you good speed, great handing and good acceleration. these 3 stats are mainly whats important.
