Well pune is obviously the original founder, and he does deserve a great amount of credit for that. He may have had others work with him and provide some code or knowledge, but this just goes to show why we need people to donate to tueidj, pune, TT, blasky, and everyone else who works hard for this scene with their great knowledge and wonderful skills to make all of this happen for everyone else in the world.

Seriously, that's like me saying an exploit works by overwriting some data in memory. Of course it does, but that won't help you recreate it.

That's why I said "(more or less)", implying that he didn't go into detail. My point was to make clear that giantpune didn't just post a video and never talked about it. Furthermore this is only a part of an irc log. Who knows what other things have been said.

What actually interests me is how he feels about it.

Isn't the purpose of a Forum like this helping each other instead of abusing each other and complaining about each other?

It's released. The only people who can be unhappy about this are Pune and Me (for the value of my exploitable game obviously.)

As I said, I wasn't "privy" to anything pune was doing besides what everyone else saw with the youtube video. There was no effort to hide my involvement, you'll see my name pop up if you actually run the exploit. I just don't feel the need to have my name plastered on everything I contribute to (given it can lead to wonderful conversations like this, I wonder why).
Perhaps step back and ask yourself exactly what point are you trying to make? Pune had an exploit but didn't release it, now it's been cloned and is freely available... Are you actually upset that he may not get "donations" for it? Has gbatemp suddenly become a noble land where all creators must be financially rewarded for their products, anyone attempting to give stuff away for free must have ulterior motives and/or be accused of stealing said product from another source? Are you going to start defending the hombreware sites too, since they're just doing what modmii does but charging for their time/guides?

Just grow up already and stop trying to read more into things than what is actually there:
- Pune has been sitting on this for nearly two weeks without any sign of release (or response to me saying someone would recreate it).
- Letterbomb is an exploit that was built from the ground up after watching pune's demonstration.
- Getting something done is important, taking credit is not.
- Modmii manages to produce false positive messages from virus scanners due to its nature, not because "some asshole keep reporting it."

i could care less what pune gets for donations. really. he would have released it anyway.

the point is, it was his to release. you didn't like how long he was taking so you went ahead and did it yourself. but don't try and pretend it was because you were being noble in taking someone else's idea and claiming it as your own. personally, i don't care that you guys released the exploit, i'm just peeved that his name was nowhere to be seen (other than Blasty's "Good Work!" in the "disclaimer" (which is fishy in and of itself...if it was all your work, why would you even need a disclaimer?)

so had pune not pointed out the overflow, you guys still would have found and released it when you did?

and as you can see...nowhere does pune claim sole credit for anything. infact, there is a CREDITS section that lists everyone involved and their roles...
maybe you could do the same?

Big thanks to tueidj and TT for this letterbomb exploit. if Pune's exploit is different or works on 3.0+ firmwares, than he should still release his also.

I was just wondering when the sources are going to be available?
Maybe they are build from the ground up and don't contain any gpl source?
It's just a matter of being able to learn something from it.
I mean, is there a reason why for instance the sources of the hbc and bannerbomb aren't available?
