OK, I just fired it up and did a quick run-through of it.
I'll just come out with it from the get-go:
I can't get it to run GBA and NDS ROMs
Whenever I try to play a ROM, I get the same screen that shows up in the beta release, with the little message that says "Aplication halted!!" near the bottom of the top screen.
First I deleted the M3 Real SYSTEM folder on my MicroSD card and left everything else intact, then dragged the M3Sakura SYSTEM folder onto the card. The ROMs wouldn't run, so I tried moving a ROM out of the NDS/GBA folders into the root of the card; no dice.
The next thing I did was recopy my original M3 Real SYSTEM folder onto the card, then drag the M3Sakura SYSTEM folder onto the card as well. This overwrote some of the files in the M3 Real SYSTEM folder. Still didn't work. I couldn't get the ROMs to run in the NDS/GBA folders or in the root of the MicroSD card.
Anyone have other suggestions?
Everything else works perfectly. I can run all of my homebrew, view pictures, play music and DPG video files, and even run NES, SNES, Sega/Genesis ROMs through the emulators. There are just tiny differences in the startup screen, but other than that it's almost identical to the beta version. The GUI is just as slick and smooth, the tapping and sliding response to the stylus is great.
The one big difference I noticed from the beta release is the addition of auto-boot function.
There are two sample autoboot files in the root, called "defaultx.nds" and "defaulty.nds."
The way it works is, you rename an NDS file (whether homebrew or ROM) to "defaultn.nds," where "n" is either of the X or Y buttons. You can auto-boot any .nds file by holding them down while powering up your DS.
So if you wanted to auto-boot SnemulDS, you would place SnemulDS.nds in the root directory, rename it "defaultx.nds," and hold down the X button when you turn on the DS. If you rename it to "defaulty.nds," then you'd hold down the Y button upon power-up. It works perfectly, I just tried it. It doesn't seem to work with the A button though. Haven't tried the B button yet, but I will soon.
*EDIT*
Auto-boot doesn't work for the B button either. Whenever I try, I get double white screens and have to shut down. Holding down the A button when powering on seems to only freeze the boot-up of M3 Sakura, but releasing it allows boot-up to resume normally. So Auto-boot only works for the X and Y buttons.
*END EDIT*
I'm looking at the readme text files that were included in the Sakura firmware download, but none of them provide documentation about how to set it up. Right now I'm checking out different Japanese forums to see what our ninja friends have to say.
This is frustrating
