did you buy a japan ver?
I see your GBA exp pak is white

I have the English version, but I picked up 2 sets of replacement shells along with the M3. That way, I was able to practice sanding

. I chose the white ones for the picture so you can see them against my black DS. (Oh, and I purchased my M3 from realhotstuff.com, so I'm pretty sure the expansions are genuine.)

thats very odd
can you tell me what ver your M3R cart is?
its on the back of the actual M3 Real cart right on the PCB right above the contact points where it connects to the DS because I dont have any of problems, mine came and I just had to reseat the GBA PCB because it was tilted but it fits in fine now and doesnt stick out

also I dont get that screen flicker thing that you have with the rumble pack

The rumble pack is only $2.00, so its not a big deal.

I wish the GBA expansion ran at full speed, but as for the M3 Real, don't get me wrong guys... I love it! Like I said before, I am a perfectionist. Sometimes I should just keep my mouth shut

huh what do you mean? you musn't be talking about gameplay...

also anyone know why my expansion pack isn't detected by the memtest app? none of the selections detect it.

If your useing the M3 Real GBA Expansion, manualy select G6 Flash as the type. Although it should be able to auto detect it.

Wow, so much flaming for a valid point (to me, he didn't sound whiney, just concerned).

I never knew that the GBA expansion pack was actually used for anything other than GBA games. I heard that browsers could use them for extra RAM, and now it seems that M3Sakura does too. I never noticed because I just keep it plugged in all the time (although it does stick out a slight bit, and when I pull it out, it catches on the frame of the DS, pulling at the plastic, so I have to be careful or I'll break my DS). I find GBA capability more useful than rumble anyway.

I should have mentioned in when I started the thread, that I'm not concerned about a second or 2 in loading times but rather that the access speed between the M3 cart and the DS is slower (than the R4).

2 Seconds might not seem allot in terms of time but in terms of transfer speed its probably about 1MB/s.

Some games on the M3DS Real actually load faster than the actual game cart itself. Pokemon Diamond is one of these games. The M3 Real finishes saving at least 4 seconds before the game cart.

next time with testing, please do it with the same hardware.
you're using a lite and a phat, which doesn't give accurate measurements.
it happens sometimes that different versions of the same nintendo pocket console have different speeds.

OR you could make another vid where your m3 is in the phat and your r4 in the lite.

what i find funny is that while u are correct the OP specifically states he is using 2 DS lites.... yet it is obvious 1 is a phat and one is a lite (location of the power light), so either didnt realise they were 2 different styles

(i dont know how that is possible) or he lied to us to try get some attention

That was my bad, the post was before I did the video(I edited it). The other lite was my sisters and she was not home(so I had to make due).
I wasn't trying to be devious or anything

, from my experience both handhelds are the same speed.

I will post a new video later with the R4 and M3 switched (R4 in the Lite, M3 in the Phat).

what does sanded mean?
it means: to use sandpaper on.

You are right, M3 is definitely slower than R4 for SD access (provided you are using a decent SD card.) In fact, I haven't seen another card that is designed around the SDIO protocols (for speed) as well as R4 has been - R4 was designed around a core that once created is for a single purpose only and in this case the SDIO is hardwired in really well (things like SD command and data crc generation are done in the chip), while most other cards use reprogrammable/multi purpose Actel FPGA (and force the DS to do the crc calculations.) Pretty much any card that has had an update to support more brands of SD cards cannot have had the SDIO internalized as well as could have been if the product hadn't been shunted into the market early.

It's not a major difference though, especially when it comes to inside games. Games will always try to wait for the data just like a PC will wait for a file to be read - and as has been said before, in quite a few cases M3 is even superior to the original cards.
