This is the second time my MicroSD card lost it's FAT partition and stops being recognized by windows. First time was when I was in the middle of using FATSORT. The other time it happened was when I pulled out my card reader then later put it back in only to find it saying "please put a disk into drive X."

I suspect either my MicroSD card is defective or the R4DS USB card reader is defective.

Anyone else have problems like this or have any input of why this is happening?

A couple of infobits that may be useful. I am running on a Kingston 2GB microcard. Also, I notice that when I use the R4DS USB card reader in my PC it begins to get very warm to the touch. I am wondering if this implies a problem within the card reader that could cause this. I also have a habit of pulling out my card reader without properly using the "safely remove hardware" button in XP. I somewhat ruled this out as the problem because I've been pulling out flash memory hundreds of times over the years without a problem.

I would definitely look for a reliable USB card reader. The one that came with the R4/M3DSS is not trustworthy and therefore have never touched it. I've dealt with a couple before I got reliable read/write. Don't ask me what it is, it's some generic one I got from Asia.

Why don't you try FAT32 once you get the right hardware? I personally have never had any issues. Also everything is sorted automatically.

This particular card I was working with was for my Supercard lite and it only uses FAT. I was using the R4DS USB card reader to do it.

I will take your advice and get myself a more reliable card reader. I just want to put my mind at rest now because I have a 14 day window to return my Kingston memory if it happens to be defective.

Don't use the generic one from Asia that comes with the R4. Use another generic one from Asia. That's some good advice, thanks for sharing.

I just cycled through a couple or so until I got one that was working great. I'm a cheap guy.

Well, I found out the definitive cause. I took another microsd card and used it in the R4DS USB reader and sure enough it corrupted the FAT partition as well. The corrupt cards still read in the DS, but can no longer be recognized in windows.

The only way to get these cards functional in windows again is to format them in a digital camera. My data is gone, but I can always put it back. I'm just glad it was the crappy R4DS USB reader that was the cause and not my memory.

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
