This keeps on popping up on things, what was the point of it?
What if someone didn't have a compatible wireless network (if any internet access at all) to update?

(I already updated and there are still things that are locked)

They either didn't have all the features ready at Nintendo or they are waiting to block flashcarts with the new update.

Either way, it is annoying, I agree.

Agreed. If your not going to include something at launch don't put the damn icon there!

As for people who don't have wifi, I would guess there is always the possibility of including updates on game carts?

I suppose the previous posts have a valid point are Nintendo waiting to let the flashcards release and then block them

Isn't that what the Spotpass if for? That thing that watches for/auto connects to available Wi-Fi sources when the system is in sleep mode and downloads updates automatically? I know it's mostly for game content, but I thought it was also for system updates. Downloading them in chunks as you go, then when the full thing is done say "Update Available!"

Not that it matters as I'll try and avoid free games on the 3DS if it was ever possible.
