Yup its working!
I just downloaded USA save file and i'm using it with my EUR backup (rom).
DS save files are definitely NOT region locked and no reverse engineering is required afaik.

So this is what you got to do:
I searched for save file for some time (hard to find it) and only one that I found is this: https://www.thetechgame.com/Downloads/id=32663/mario-hoops-3-on-3-ds-game-save.html
You need to make an account to download it though (i made it).

Once you download the file from the website, unZIP it. It will be in .DUC format! Not usable for DStwo!

So once downloaded it, go here to convert it to format that DSWtwo can use it (.sav): https://www.shunyweb.info/convert.php

Click "browse" to upload your downloaded .duc save file,
and set "Source Format:" field to: "Action Replay Max DS (.duc / .dss)"
and set "Target Format:" to: "Acekard 2 | Cyclone........Supercard SD | Top Toy DS (.sav)"

See the picture below

Than click "convert" and after that, download your newly converted file "mario hoops 3on3.sav" file (or whatever its called).
It's a USA save file with everything 100% unlocked (i tested it).

Than connect your SD card from DSTWO, to your PC,
and go to where your game is located, and put
"mario hoops 3on3.sav" file you converted in same folder as
"Mario Slam Basketball.nds" rom is, and just rename it from
"Mario Slam Basketball.nds" to "mario hoops 3on3.nds". (same as that .sav file is)

Put SD to DSTWO, plug DSTWO to DS, and play! :)

That sounds complicated :D I try it
It only "sounds" complicated, trust me! :D

Basically all you need to do is:
1. download the save file. (after you make an account)
2. convert it.
3. put it on your SD card, where your game is.
4. rename your game to be the same name as save file is.

5. have fun!

Cool! I'm playing it as we "speak"! Fun game haha :yaynds:

Oh, just a note... i have a "super card DStwo 2 in 1" and i'm using Nintendo DS lite.
I'm at the last tourney and I always failed at the round againt the Final Fantasy team :(

I never did this before because the card (dstwo) did my brother and I don't know a thing :D

I know how that feels, i was like that before.

Just follow what i wrote, and if anything is unclear, feel free to write here!

I'm no expert, but i have some experience and knowledge since i did all this before, so i'll try to help as much as i can.

It is now in the US Version but I didn't have any savegame. I think I just changed the name

I only changed the Name of the game from mario Basketball to hoops 3 on 3 but not the version or savegame
Oh!
Yes, yes that is correct. Only change game file to whatever save game is name. Its still European game, just named differently.

Its a good thing DS saves arent region locked.

By the way, you can rename it whatever you want tbh, but the MAIN THING is
that game and save file are named EXACTLY the same, except extensions (.nds and .sav) of course, those are file types not file names!

You can call them "Super mario the dude" lol but the save and nds files MUST be named exactly the same. That's the main thing.

I have more than 5 files for each mario EU version and USA version files like .duc .sav ...
