Well, since most complaints come from people actually having problems, let's try and compile some stats about the state of purchased DS Lites INCLUDING the ones that are fine. 2-3% returns is a normal thing in the console industry. Let's see how the Lite puts up against it.

As for me, my Lite is A-OK!

I was wondering if there are any black lite owners with the cracked hinge as i've never seen any pics of black lites with a crack, only white ones.

I voted for cracked hinge because thats what I have on my current DS, but my first DS had a dead pixel so I returned it.

I bought 4 ds lite in the USA.
After two weeks, two of them have "loose" touchscreen.
I went to the US official site forum and some owner complain this problem.
Maybe I am unlucky or maybe you have not got the problem yet.

This problem is not appeared immediately so you should pay attention to this problem.
If you find this problem within 30 days, go to exchange a new one.

You missed out the yellow tint of the bottom screen from your pole, which is a fault because it makes it looks like shit...

i got a black one, and it's 100% working and i don't have any problems with it ;P (though it took 2-3 hours to get used to go diagonal ;P)

My touchscreen is a little loose, I can touch it and it goes down almost like a button... No cracks though, and it doesn't affect anything playability wise... I do notice that dirt gets into the edges of the console where there 2 different types of plastic meet. Its kinda annoying cause its not easy to clean out...

I have a yellowy tint on my black DS Lite that I notice when playing in a dark room but it doesn't bother me that much.

I bought a black European (UK) DS Lite. It had a stuck bright red pixel on the top screen so I sent it to Nintendo UK to get it fixed. 2 and a half weeks later I recieved a brand new replacement unit.

The new unit is pixel perfect but has a small bit of dust under the top screen which is annoying when playing games with a lot of bright white (Brain Training) but it's barely noticeable.

The touch screen is loose in the bottom right hand corner, if I press down on it - it "clicks" and moves downwards and back up. This really isn't a problem though as the stylus doesn't do it, as you have to press fairly hard.

The d-pad also refuses to allow diagonals to be pressed.

No cracked hinge though!

At least the screens are beautiful.

Edit: Oh yes, and the touch screen is one of those types that has a slight yellow tint.

I hope I dont break any forum rules when i translate this to swedish:
Hinge = Gångjärn, med cracked hinge antar jag att det menas att ett av gångjärnen till skärmen är lösa eller spräckt.

Mine is A-OK! White one , 1 month after release.

Mine is really normal and okay.

My black DSL is fine.No cracks,bad pixels,loosy volume slider and no loosy touchscreen.
The only problems is with the D-pad diagonal that until now i can't use it properly.
Its a UK DS lite and i got it on the launch day.

my ds lite has alot problems:

- red pixel in the top right

(sleeping pixel?)
- hing is half-cracked

- touch screen is loose in the right bottom

is a ds lite from japan launch, thinking of buying a new one after they fix the first-generation errors.
