Huh.. So if what CTCaer brought to light is indeed true? This was a pity party that never needed to happen and Scires has legitimately no right to be upset. You can argue that Kate made the mistake of bringing it to light.. But if he wasn't the only one sitting on the bug, it's not his to be upset about. Then the whole ordeal with RS is just the icing on this cake.

I don't see any reason to doubt what CTCaer stated. He is not affiliated with ReSwitched whatsoever and favors neither SciresM or Ktemkin (officially, at least). He is the unbiased third party view point we have been looking for this whole time. Add into the fact that everything he posts makes complete sense in retrospect and what choice do we have left but to believe him?

You realize that "freedom of speech" means that the government can't arrest you for speaking your mind - not that you can be a dick on a private forum or Discord?
According to Google, freedom of speech is "the right to express any opinions without censorship or restraint". This doesn't apply specifically to the government.

Unbiased? Sensibility? In my Switch hacking scene?

It's more likely than you think.

To be fair, both SciresM and Ktemkin have statements that contradict each other. We can't really give what they say much weight. But you're the reporter and not me for a reason;)

I think you should add his post to OP. Its the most concise and objective deconstruction of the entire ordeal.
Considered it and don't mind to if @CTCaer doesn't object but I figured since the Discord channel was back up and openly discussing it, maybe let's see what happens there for now.
I agree though at this stage and with so many pages to wade through, his post of reason could tend to get swallowed and ignored.

Not doubting him, in the least. Just choosing my words wisely here.

Michael's home is flooded with tears but an australian doctor along with navy seal divers has been sent in to bring him out.

Does everything needs to be a drama with this people?

I’m gonna go ahead and “quote” (can’t remember exactly how it went) what the guy who leaked the FG exploit said a few months ago, when everything started for most of us:
“Real hackers hack in silence”.

Man, TX can put whatever stupid brick code they want in their OS, as long as I don’t have to read through a family drama no one really cares about.

The problem with Discord and (specially) Twitter, is that now hackers are worshipped as rock stars. Which as for merits go, it’s ok, but it brings the “dark side” of it too. It looks like they spend more time in these dramas that coding.

No one is gonna lose sleep in here because Kate did this or that. For f# sake.

Seems like a lot of people thought it was their own private bug, and no one expected it to be reported. So that's what seems to have set everything off. The fact that it wasn't a major bug like FG and has limited use just means it was an even bigger over-reaction than necessary.

A minor bug got burned but then it caused the entire scene to go ablaze.

Reading ktemkin's breakdown of it, it doesn't seem like its *that* powerful but can result in malicious use in some aspects. Its probably why didn't even consider it a big deal on top of it being in the public domain regardless.

What does this mean for people with patched bootroms since they're starting to appear in the wild now? If I understand correctly the same bug on the Pixel C could be used on the Switch since they both use the Tegra, and it isn't the RCM Fusee exploit that the scene uses now. So 1. Is this an alternate exploit to the fusee that can grant homebrew access and 2. Is it possible that this exploit will see the light of day?

Yup, having no reason to doubt CTCaer =/= 100% fully trusting CTCaer. I can always count on GBATemp for leaving me with one grain of salt.
I just don't need people misquoting me. It kinda gets old. Y'know? :o

2.) Yes. Since its now public, its going to get patched so keeping it private is pointless.

1.) This is nothing on the level of FG from the sounds of it.

...The team was not very trusting and/or was going to fall apart soon anyways then if that is the case.
We known that for quite some time already, other devs already said there is no trust in reswitched team, like the exploits werent also shared, but I guess if they let anyone inside the team, that person will know their rules and can totally freely decide to join or not, but they also don't add ppl to the team...

Anyway with trust, no trust, drama or no drama I always Trust SciresM and just know atmosphere will see the day of coming out fully released.

I signed up to the discord just for like news and stuff, help if necessary. Wasn't really wanting these sorts of announcements in my feed though. Kind of glad they had locked it so alerts didn't spam.
