Gaming kh bbs black screen

hey guys i downloaded a kh bbs game but when i open it it shows the psp logo but then the black screen stays for ever
is there a way to fix it?
btw i have a psp fat with firmware 3.71
and another question if i update my psp will i lose the ability to play iso games and homebrew?

The problem is your firmware.
Read the softmod sticky and do all of the PSP 1000 section.

guys i bought the psp from a friend its softmodded because i can acess the flash recovery menu but it has an old firmware and i cant upgrade it says he cant read the memory stick when i begin the upgrade help

well i entered the update app i agreed the licence of idk what then it begins it stays on 0 percent and after some seconds it says it cant read the memory stick
nothe i played with emulators on the psp on my memory stick so i doubt its fake and my friend played mannny games

Is it a black "Sony" stick which isn't Magic Gate supported when you push triangle on the Memory stick sub menu on the XMB?

well its a 2gb sony black magic gate supported memory stick

Did you just read it off the memory stick or did you check what xist said? (This is imporant)

Also, you could try the hellcats way.
Download hellcat's recovery flasher
put 5.00.PBP on the root of your memory stick
rename 5.00.PBP to 500.PBP
start hellcats
update to 5.00 M33

omg thanks now im at firmware 5.00 but still i cant even open bbs the psp says it cant open the game

well i switched to m33 driver when you press r while turning the psp on is it the way it should be done?
or should i softmod

Okay. When you boot your PSP, go to "System Settings". Then go down till you see "System Information". Click it and tell me what "System Software" is.
